Subject: BS: Canuck EI (pogey) increases substantial From: gnu Date: 15 Apr 10 - 03:02 PM Well... not very many years ago, there was a $6B surplus. Now.... But, Harpie is gonna sell big shares in the Tar Sands to China, so what the hell. It's all good, eh? I wonder if China will start questioning Canuck health care like they are doing regarding Obama's health care plan. |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck EI (pogey) increases substantial From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 15 Apr 10 - 04:58 PM "Harpie' has nothing to do with the Tar Sands. The sales of part ownership are by the concerned corporations. Chinese investment in the Sands started in 2006. Last year, Petrochina bought a 60% stake in the MacKay and Dover projects for $2 billion. Sinopec has just invested $4.65 billion in projects owned by Conoco-Phillips. In addition, the Chinese are spending $2 billion to construct a pipeline from Alberta to the British Columbia coast. The Alberta provincial government, not the Federal, sets the rules on the Tar Sands development. The premier is Ed Stelmach. The pipeline required joint B. C. -AB approval. |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck EI (pogey) increases substantial From: gnu Date: 15 Apr 10 - 05:26 PM I thought Her Majesty The Queen in right of Canada held the mineral rights to every square mm of Canuck soil except for those owned through Raparian rights and thereby had a say in the matter. My bad. |
