Hello everyone

Folk Club of the Year, The Magpie's Nest, is off on tour, calling in to Manchester's Contact Theatre on Saturday May 8th.

The Two For Joy tour features The Long Notes and Plaster of Paris. The Manchester date will be opened by the city's very own fiddle and harp duo, Twelfth Day. (If you haven't heard them, do take a listen - they're releasing their debut album in June: http://www.twelfthdaymusic.com/)

The Manchester date is promoted by For Folk's Sake, a monthly night in the city centre. For more info, please visit http://www.forfolkssake.org.uk/ or buy tickets from http://www.contact-theatre.org/whats-on/events/639/the-magpies-nestnew-folk-old-folk--no-folk-tour.htm

Hope that wasn't too long and indulgent! :-)

Just a reminder that this show is a week today. A feature on Twelfth Day will be in the Citylife section of the MEN next Friday.
See you there!

It sounds like a pretty good gig, but in what way is it a "folk club"?

Londoners obviously don't know what a folk club is. Sounds like a concert to me. Unless they're going to bring all of the punters from the Magpies nest to do a sing around before the concert bit?

Well... yes, in this case it is just a concert.

But The Magpie's Nest is a regular club night incorporating guest slots, open mics, etc: http://www.themagpiesnest.co.uk/
