I tried to stop at a community garage sale this morning, but as the road wrapped around the fenced in area I could see it was mostly crafts and handbags and such. Not my idea of a "garage sale." I love them this time of year, but didn't see any last week and didn't have time this week.

Every couple of weeks I take stuff over to the recycle facility near me, but this is the off week. It's tempting to pick up things over there, so it's just as well I don't go every week.

Out to the garden. I've picked up most of what I wanted, though I did forget a couple of things on my list.

Mary, even if you took the time off, you still earn many kudos. How many times have I taken time off for some task and barely gotten started when the time is up? I think we can all tell stories about the cleaning days that got away from us.

Just spiffified the table and found an empty chair -- Jeri is coming to supper in a bit. Thought it might be nice to offer her an empty chair and a place for her plate at the table. While accomplishing this, I found the wedding invitation I was looking for AND put some stuff away. (Or at least have it in the vicinity of the stairs so I can take them up next time I go up.)

And also while taking something TO the car, and bringing something inside, I stacked some more branches in the wheelbarrow and combed dried leaves out of the succulents on the bank.

Oops, just remembered a small item in the car. Might as well take the stack of magazines for a friend out with me.

SRS said "Mary, if you're half-way through a massive de-cluttering, my hat's off to you! AND you planted the garden? You're Wonder Woman!"

It helps that I took time off specifically to declutter and get the garden started. Plus, I'd been getting annoyed at the amount of 'stuff' I had lying around, and was really in a 'clearing' out frame of mind. Now to tackle my clothes, and the upstairs bedrooms!

Okay. I took 2 boxes of books to the Nottingham Library for the book sale next weekend (when I won't be around). Score one for me.

But...there was a community flea market at town hall on the way there. Uh huh. Of COURSE I stopped.

But I was a reasonably good kid and bought useful stuff cheap -- great brand new folding step stool, cover for a stack of plastic chairs, clear shrinkable window covers for next winter, a Christmas present for my brother and a Christmas present for Sinsull (you can imagine). Oh, yeah, and two boxes of very nice rubberstamps. I NEED rubberstamps...I only have a map chest, 2 small storage units and multiple plastic boxes full of them. (Anybody want to buy a rubberstamp company, vulcanizer and all, that's been on the back burner for about 20 years?)

After I dropped off the books and did another errand, I set off on my usual yardsale loop. Yardsale season has started earlier than usual this year and I've already missed two over the past few weeks because I was on my way to work and couldn't stop.

Again, mostly useful stuff that I otherwise couldn't afford including a wonderful large garden I-don't-know-what-you-might-call-it, like a tarp made into a big bag-like dealie with handles all 'round. I can use this.

And I gave a miss to a few yardsales and to things that, while sort of enticing, would just become clutter.

I think I'm feeling virtuous. Didn't spend much money, either.

Hey, Stilly! Glad the post office got it to you in a timely fashion. Surprises are good -- I hope you enjoy it.

May Day and I've been out working on behalf of my garden. I need to declutter a bunch of cracked and broken pots (the snow and long hard freeze this winter was very hard on them). In the accumulation category, I picked up bedding plants to put in today. Herbs and veggies and a few flowers.

Here is the previous thread.

I stopped in to get lunch after running around this morning (and got the haircut I wanted--I'm back to a really short cut) and shopping. I have another run to make, and then it is into the garden. We're expecting rain so I'd like to finish and let the rain take care of watering in the new plants.

Charge forward, all, and use the momentum of spring and longer days to get the jobs done that you want to do, and remember, for those in the Northern Hemisphere, THIS is the time of year to try a diet, when your metabolism is perkier with this weather and amount of light.
