The song "Seamus", from the album "Meddle", was of course used for the credits of the movie Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, a Tom Stoppard masterpiece. Love the movie. Love the song.

Weakepedia entry here, reminding me of the shocking subterfuge that the dog featured in the version in Live In Pompeii was a ringer named Nobs, covering the vocal performance of the original Seamus from the album version. Presumably Seamus received a percentage of the Winalot paid to Nobs for the film version.

Our lurcher does her own version of Seamus whenever I get the mouth organ out ...

I think Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had a dog in one of their songs, too.
I seem to recall it was Uncle Charlie and his dog Teddy.

Seamus was Steve Marriott's dog and also sang on the Small Faces' "The Universal". Unlike many rock vocalists, he could lick his own genitals.
