The exact quote from worthless political hack Salazar, said of British Petroleum : "We will keep our boot on their neck 'till the job gets done".

That helps? Resign, you jerk.

There are lots of people in the Gulf area screaming for the federal government to do something, other that point fingers.

The Army Corps (or as Obama says, "corpse") of Engineers should have brought their huge booms to block the oil from reaching shore. It's been 34 days and the administration still does nothing. They have lots of oil-removal equipment that we taxpayers have bought. Where is it?

Ken "Sleazy" Salazar says that BP is gonna pay! How much oil does that stop?

The news media have decided to focus on a Republican candidate and dissect what he said. That diverts the public's attention away from the real problems: the oil spill and the Obama administration's pathetic response to it.

The phrase is quite old.... it was clear to me that they were just aghast that he thought BP should be given lenient treatment. He sure said things like "accidents happen", as if it were some random event like a lighting strike.

The reports I heard was, he coined the phrase and they just thought it was awful.

That's exactly what Paul said the other day, and the media was all over him.

Actually, Rand Paul has been kind of exonorated. Today the Secretary of Interior said "The Administration was standing with their foot on BP's neck."

It's just greed and it's been around for a long, long time.

Except in Texas where the State Board of Education has recently deleted any reference to "capitalism."

No laws--That's anarchism.

Utah's definition, "One who doesn't need a policeman to tell him what to do."

There seems to be this under-current in their thought processes - whether they understand it themselves, that: "People who have money must deserve to have money, and rules about MAKING money are meant to protect the right to keep making money...and the right to manipulate the rules."

I am aware that no one would admit to that phrasing, but that's the way many of them act. Add to that the idea that 'money' somehow determines 'class status'. and you get a set of principles that affect political ideals.

Yes, he's an eye doctor and opposed to Medicare and "Obamacare" -- he's especially opposed to cutting the payments doctors receive Medicare and Medicaid. Odd, isn't it?

Rand Paul has utopian beliefs. He thinks government does not need to create many laws or regulations because most people will "do the right thing". Ha! Get real.

Given that he's an eye-doctor it should be understandable why his social justice theory is based on nothing more than "an eye for an eye."

No idea who this guy was until recently. I just read through his list of political views, and out of the whole mess, I find I agree with him on two—and only two—points. He favors legalizing medical marijuana (not a really big issue with me) and he's opposed to government bail-outs of banks and companies in general, including those that are "two big to fail."

Everything else he's for sets my teeth on edge.

The name "Rand" rang a bell. Turns out it's his actual given name (Randal), but what struck me early on is that a lot of what he advocates sounds like Ayn Rand talking through her fictional John Galt.

Decades ago, I was gung-ho Ayn Rand, having read all her stuff.

Then I grew up.

I don't believe he will win the general election to the U.S. Senate in November because of quotes like this: "a free society will abide unofficial, private discrimination, even when that means allowing hate-filled groups to exclude people based on the color of their skin."
He defeated a more mainstream RNC endorsed candidate in the primary who may have had better shot at winning the general. This shows that, as I've said from the start, the Tea Partiers are much more of a threat to Republicans than Democrats. I think some in the Republican mainstream must be starting to think that the Tea Party movement is really an insidious secret plot of the DNC. ;<)

I think he found out the difference of being a candidate trying for a nomination, and a candidate who has won a nomination. Suddenly the press has to take you seriously, and if they don't like what you have to say, they'll go after you.

The same thing happened to Sarah Palin once she was place on the Republican ticket.

Paul was smart to decline to go on Press the Meat. I suspect he'll just concentrate on winning the Senate seat in Kentucky after this, and will avoid national exposure for a while.

Hey, Eb and Magz...

This guy ain't gonna be runnin' the show and his idea's ain't gonna become mainstream...

That is reality... There have always been fringe anarchists but the rest of the population is smart enough to not turn the keys over to them...

No fear...

He's loopy enough to knock Sarah Palin off of the front page.

They'll probably run for office together somewhere. Scary times ahead.

His 'platform' is what comes from allowing slogans and wishes to guide one's polices, rather than practical answers that might actually do something useful, even if not perfect.

He has no concept of what might happen if some theoretical Congress actually tried to pass legislation based on his antiquated notion of 'free enterprise'.

Were Rand Paul become this country's next guru it wouldn't surprise me. Hardly anything lately surprises me. I think I've outlived my time.

Let's just say that I don't hpold his views... He is for letting the corporations police themselves entirely... Check it out... Last month's mine disaster... This month's oil spill... Next month's ______________... Crooks cannot be left in charge of policing themselves... It doesn't work at any level...

Also, related to Paul's thinking that government has no right to "govern", I am fearfulll that if the country went along with his views that we could turn back the clock to any year that makes him happy... I mean, if he can justify "segregation", whcih he has, then what next??? Slavery???

I'm serious... His message may play well to anarchists but I don't see his world view as serving the general population...

So far, IMO Mr. Paul has clearly demonstrated what happens when a rigid philosophical principle encounters the real world. And yet, he has supporters.
