There are among us several folks who are exceptional contributors to the lore, music and scholarship of folk. All are appreciated more than we express. But for right now, I would like to offer a special Mudcatters' doff of the hat to Q.

Take a look at the Fisk Jubilee Singers thread. A minute or so ago there were 129 posts. If I counted correctly, 120 of those posts were from Q, transcribing lyrics and offering other tidbits of information, correction or variations. I"m sure there are more to come.

Folks, that is devotion. What an on-line archive!

An Amen from Arkansas. I am no longer surprised by the speed or depth of knowledge to be found here and to be shared so willingly. And Q does provide an amazing amount of information. He is knowledgeable and has very able research skills. Thanks Q.

I always enjoyed the rich discussions when Q takes pen in hand (keyboard in lap) to participate. I know that hard-core scholarship isn't always appreciated by the entire membership, but it is important that people take the time to tease out small details, spell out what they mean, and offer support so others can duplicate the research if they wish.

Q is a joy to work with. I guess it's fair to say that he and I are both "song geeks." We've kicked ideas and lyrics back and forth for years now, and I think of him as a good friend.

Q has been and is credited as a major contributor to the Spirituals permathread, too. I've relied on his alternate view from mine, there, for years, to balance my own view (and enlarge it).

I am in awe of Q's scholarship and acumen, as I was of the late Malcolm Douglas's. Time and time again I have belabored a knotty question about some obscure song, to return and find a beautifully composed, solid, informative, helpful answer from the Mighty Q.
