Subject: suggestions for replacing5stringguitar From: The Sandman Date: 18 Jun 10 - 01:38 PM okIwish to use dgdgbd guitar tuning, but wish to transpose 5 string banjo tunes, now can I replace my 5 string[a]with a octave 12 string guitar string[fifth string]. I tried this but the octave string snapped, any suggestions |

Subject: RE: suggestions for replacing5stringguitar From: Bernard Date: 18 Jun 10 - 01:51 PM Depends upon what you were trying to tune it to, Dick... an octave A string on a 12 string would be tuned to the second fret A of a G banjo 3rd string, but I'm guessing you want the banjo 5th string G which is an octave above that. A 12-string octave G (3rd string) is normally tuned to that pitch at full scale length (the banjo's is much shorter), so I'd give that a go. |
