It's the only 17th century pool room I know

Why the hell do we not (weather depending) hold next Mondays session out side in the beer garden.
We can set up a Ducking stool for the Nagging Wifes and we fellows can drink Ale.

currently forecast cloudy 16 degrees after a hot day of 27 degrees, possibility of rain Tuesday morning

best to run it past Mick the Landlord in case he already has a ducking stool

I popped in and checked with Mick - outside is fine with him, forgot to ask about the ducking stool but I didn't see one, ale for the fellows is definitely available

If the weather is warm and dry, I'm up for it, but Len might not be, as he tends to get very cold, very quickly. I don't want to risk getting a chill either before Sidmouth, so will play it by ear. Youguys are welcome to try it though. I could see that Mick was having trouble with his glass washer. The one down the road plays up all the time.
If you want a ducking stool, I bet "Auntie Wainwright" of Old Crap Antiques has got one. No promises, but in the oven now is an attempt at a bread pudding. (Loaf bought at Lidl with the texture of felt). It smells good but I may have made it too wet!

See you all on Monday

I am a bit weary about sitting the beer garden on Monday Night.
Now I have learned that

"Ronnie and Reggie The Crayfish Twins have a protection racket on that part of the River Cray ?

Ronnie and Reggie may reside on the banks of the ol River Lea in Hackney East London
"But if they Jump on there Motor Pike and Side Carp
They could be in Foots Cray in an hour demanding half of the Raffle Money?

I understand one of the above lives in Chislehurst I have guided him around the Chisleshurst cave on several times in the past. I aslo work for Hale when he hired the caves out for a private function.
Nice bloke.

Joe has disallowed my posting from The Management because of too much trouble with switched identities, so the above posting from Pierre makes no sense out of context. His earlier posting

I am a bit weary about sitting the beer garden on Monday Night.
Now I have learned that

"Ronnie and Reggie The Crayfish Twins have a protection racket on that part of the River Cray ?

caused me to say it was a spooky posting because, I posted as The Management. The Management were characters akin to Ronnie and Reggie.
When the Sunday sessions began some years ago at 7 Stars, I was promised that Hale and Pace would attend the opening night. They didn't.

GF, can I suggest you edit the RemoteGoat link a bit?

a) It doesn't come up if you search on category "acoustic music", or indeed just plain "music". It only comes up if you leave "event type" blank or "any". Editing the tags a bit to add music references should cure that.

b) Even though the heading says "this event is free" there is a "buy tickets" box on the diary entry below. I'd edit that out.

Nice to see all the regulars back as well as some more new faces, excellent broad mix of styles.

And the pub put on tea and coffee for us

I think I'll bring my fishing rod next time!

What I like about this is session is that everybody is invited to join in / play along in a sort of jam session fashion - I like this as I can just jingle my guitar here and there (if I know the tune that is!) and not have to worry too much about being put on the spot to sing a song! It was good to see my old friend Graeham Hood again with his wonderful dulcimer playing.

A excellent night once again I throughly enjoyed it.
The bread pudding was very nice.
A wonderful mix of players and singers well done to everyone?
It was good to have the Landlord and Bar staff enjoying the event too.

It was a right Palaver having no cash point nearby and after a mile walk there and back to the nearest cash point and finding it Out of Order I was pleased to find a cash back felicity behind the bar which cheered me up .

Next week is the build up too Sidmouth so I will not be attending in order to save money but there on after I will be there each week and having a quick and reliable transport system home helps .

Once again this is a great weekly event and I advised anyone to has not attended yet to get down to the seven Stars in Footcray.
Regards to all Pierre.

I think I've noticed people coming out of the Stars and turning left to catch the 233 to Eltham

If you turn right and go just past the traffic lights you get a choice of the 233 and the 321 which is a more direct route

Hope this may be helpful

Looking forward to meeting Felicity

good thinking - the 321 does connect with the 286 but if there's those of you that want no further than the station I understand - just fancied a bit of company while waiting for the 51 !!! :-)

Len has mended my little wooden swannee whistle now.

Danielle is the only barmaid I've met, though we did meet her mama.

She might be Felicity - who knows?

Don't anyone else buy Pierre a pint, he won't be able to find either bus stop, and have to sleep on the river bank with the Crayfish twins.

I think that's not nice.... and your pint of beer is becoming a distant dream. Bread pudding don't get stale, cos there's too much fat and fruit in it. However, other suggested uses might be..... put between the strings of a violin, or stufed down the mouth of a trumpet, it'd make a good mute..... or .......?
Behave or you're gonna join the fishes.......... the cray fishes !

Hiya Wendy. We have a promise of lavender biscuits this coming Monday, but I don't think that you can log in to Mudcat with those. We were up your way on Thursday for a funeral. I'd have rung you to blag a cup of tea, but didn't have my phone- in fact, it doesn't have your number on it. Didn't have a lot of spare time either, between venues.
Look forward to seeing you soon. X
