Wales. Where would I look for music from Wales. I am trying to find the kind of Welsh Celtic music we always associate with Ireland, Scotland et al. War songs, heroic efforts, lost love, etc.

There is a thread I started quite awhile ago asking what were favorite Welsh songs. I'll find it and add a link here. There are many in the database, if you do a search.

Post your request over on uk.music.folk, or pop in there on DejaNews, do a seach for a posting by Mick Tems, and email your request to him ..

There is quite a revival of Welsh folk music at the moment. I'd particularly recommend listening to Fernhill for outstanding modern performances of traditional material. Their lead singer, Julie Matthews (Welsh and VERY proud of it) was the cover artist on a recent Folk Roots (essential reading IMO). Their recordings are on Beautiful Jo (along with the Martin Simpson Live I recommended elsewhere); visit: http://www.bejo.co.uk

If that's not Bruce O., it's his clone, and it sure is good to feel that he's watching over us. We all benefit from his expertise.

I did see a reference to Bronson's Traditional Tunes of the Child Ballads in another thread a few days ago. Knowing that he recently acquired a copy of same and that the rest (except Sandy) don't, I surmise that he has decided to make the occasional comment on musical issues. That's great! I would like to suggest he use the pen name of "Lonesome BO!"

All the best,
Dan

Thank you for your help on this. I am slowly trying to get to the URL's and mark them for future use. Thanks to Alice who also lives near the Rockies for already having made this request.
