Subject: BS: Why Wont' My Oranges and Lemons Ripen? From: Goose Gander Date: 04 Sep 10 - 01:36 AM Two trees, lemon and orange, covered with fruit. But they won't ripen. Same thing happened the last couple of years (these are young trees). Why won't they ripen? Do they need some extra fertilizer/nutrient or something? Or are they just lazy? |

From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 04 Sep 10 - 03:40 AM With Citrus, you should not expect huge crops in the first few years - I was told that you should remove almost all the crop the first year, and portions of the crop for the next couple, as too abundant a fruit set is not recommended in the first few years. Citrus can be cold sensitive, but if the fruit is setting, that should not be the problem. Same with sufficient water. Have you applied any fertilizer at all? I forget what micronutrients citrus is hungry for. |

From: Goose Gander Date: 04 Sep 10 - 12:27 PM I'm in Southern California, they named a frickin' county for oranges here, I thought I could grow them. They don't change from green to orange, or yellow. I tried that stuff Superthrive, which might just be snakeoil. |
