Lancaster is putting on its second annual music festival from Friday 8th through Sunday 10th October 2010. Check out their website at www.lancastermusicfestival.com (sorry, can't do blue clickys)!

There is music of most genres, including a dedicated maritime festival in the Three Mariners, the Museum and the Wagon and Horses. The programme for the maritime festival is already up on the website.

Guests up to now include Andy Kenna, the Crows Nest Shantymen, LocTup Together, the Innerstate Theatre Company, Four 'n' Aft, Richard Grainger, the Thursday Girls and Andrew Raven.

Chris

I was approached tentatively about being in a group (name unspecified) for this but I've not heard any more since, although it's possible that I'm in one of the groups that I don't recognise:)

You will see from the posts above that three of the usual venues at lancaster, Three Mariners, Wagon & Horses and the Museum are being used as dedicated maritime music venues at this years Lancaster Music Festival.
Good News and hopefully bringing maritime music back to Lancaster

Well, it's got a lot to live up to but looking at the venues and a very varied programme I'm sure it will be fine. I'll be there!

There is a rumour that the performances which were scheduled to have taken place in the Maritime Museum have had to be pulled because the Museum doesn't have a Premises License and no TEN had been served. As far as I know the pub schedules will not be affected. I am not, however, involved with the festival and I don't know anyone who is. My info came from someone who works on the quayside.

I've been listening to one of Fore 'N' Aft's recordings and they do a great job of singing songs with energy and harmony.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Thanks for the plug Charlie, pleased that you are enjoying the music.

Blowzabella - The Mariners and Wagon and Horses are running for all three days as the working programme we received . Don't know about the museum as we are no longer performing in there due to a scheduling problem.

Come and have a sing with us in the Mariners from 8.30 on Friday evening.

Ian & Chris

Just picked up the comment, great Birthday bash, superb singing, staff and locals amazed!and we drank the place out of Guiness despite them ordering double stocks.
I enjoyed it so much I intend to have another next year, so I'll have to dodge the Devil for another twelve months.
Regard this as advanced warning!
Cheers Scowie.
