I think that this thread is motivated by the fact that we lost one of the greatest of all, Doc Watson, recently. This mass obituary emphasizes that it's important to keep the tradition of folk music alive in whatever way we can since many of the former carriers of the tradition have passed. Is John Herald still alive? Or John Stewart with the KT? Pete Seeger is ninety-two strong and as Springsteen has said, he has "outlived the bastards" such as McCarthy and his detractors. America's "tuning fork" is still resonant. |
