...hey, why give them a new boogie man... Nancy Pelosi did a great job of holding folks feet to fire and in the next Congress that is going to be important...

Now Bobert, you can't say that! First off your looking at the title and not at what it may or may not reperesent. If it were so that any one group, religious denomentation, political party or whatever had true and complete possesion of the truth or of Christ's truth, that's where I'd be. In politics I'm Independent and getting more so every day. In Christ I am dependent and learning to be more so every day. For me to live, is Christ. All else follows in the wake.

...lighten up... This thread is about Nancy Pelosi... What I wrote was meant to be light-hearted...

Let me rephrase it: "If Dr. King..."... No, that won't do then folks will demonize me or Dr, KIng for that one... "If. Dr., ahhhhh, Salk (remember him, the guy who found the polio vaccine) was minority leader then the Repubs would demonize him..." There... that oughtta be safe... Unless someone thinks that polio is just dandy... Personally speakin', I spent 7 months in a polio ward when I was 6 years old and it weren't all that much fun but if the Repubs want to demonize polio survivors then, hey, it's their country and they got the receipts to prove it...

Pelosi was a mistake. She wants to be front and center, pulling strings. IMO, it was a sellout putting her in a few years back. Nothing`s changed since then.

I'd like to see somebody who can make rational compromises with the Republicans, and actually get something accomplished to serve the country. All this partisan stuff has brought our government to a standstill, at a time when we really need good, rational government.

It's time for the politicians to learn the fine art of compromise. Much as I admire her, I don't think Pelosi will be able to do that, because she is too strong a partisan figure.

That's true, Bobert. And so do the Democrats...just note how people here talk about the Republicans they don't like. Same basic deal: ridicule, accusation, and demonization.

Progress and compromise can only be achieved by ceasing to demonize and doing something constructive. I don't hear Obama demonizing people in the opposition, so why do I hear so many of his ardent fans doing it?

Yeah, I'm sure that lots of folks would love for everyone to "just get along" and give even more to the rich and the corporations... What the hail do ya'll think liberals (progresives) have done for the last 30 years??? Seems that compromise is spelled "capitulate"... Lot like the UnCivil War... Except this time we have so-called progressives tellin' real progressives to chill??? I mean, we have two sides here... One doesn't believe in science or economics, runs strictly on emotion and really doesn't have much of a grasp on reality... It should be pointed out that this side also has the backing of Boss Hog to the tune of $___________(you fill it out fir whatever you need)...

So now it's 'sposed to be "be sweet and just let the the wrong folks run the show"???

I mean, I'll go head to head with folks here on policies and politics but I'd like to think I do it with a level of humor and caring for the folks on the "other side"... I think that comes thru to the folks I battle with... May not to outsiders but the folks I battle with know that I do deeply care for them... I mean, ask bb... We get together and talk old buildings...

But, yeah... Looks as if we are headed toward accepting bad policy just to make the wrong people happy... Nuthin' new there... LIke I said, we doin' that a long time and look where it has gotten US???
