here are the lyrics i remember, to the tune of silver bells

starts off these three old ladies pay a bum for the corner he is on so they can sing carols i think it is for a quarter this first part is not sung

its slightly humorous but may not be on a lyrics page so don't get hung up on that

i think the music is on accordion but i'm not sure

clanging bells, banging bells,
God it's the Salvation Army.

clattering, Shattering,
Who needs a headache right now

'i think the traffic lights blink a bright "red and red"'

ok thanks all

cant even find these lyrics on google!!! Grrrrr

Additional Details
one of the old ladies names is Nadine

It helps to know that the guy who wrote all the "Twisted Christmas" parodies was Bob Rivers.

It seems that lyrics to all of Bob Rivers' songs can be found at his web site but it's difficult to navigate if you don't know the title. You might try browsing there until you recognize something.

Wikipedia also has some information.

Redcoon: I was referring specifically to the two albums titled "Twisted Christmas" and "More Twisted Christmas." That's why I capitalized "Twisted Christmas" and enclosed the title in quotation marks.

Spelling, punctuation, and capitalization are not always used randomly, but are sometimes intended to clarify meaning.

Stick around awhile ... I like your style ...

"Dicks - On" is considered one of the "Mudcat GODS"

If you got HIS Goat - you have room to gloat.

It may be necessary ... to bring this thread foreward daily until
anwered. The answer IS HERE .... Someone, somewhere on Mudcat KNOWS.

Because requests "vanish in 24 hours" keep refreshing. Some of us have jobs...that do not match other parts of the world.

However...a little more information PLEASE:
Where did you hear this? Geographic world location
When did you hear this? Approximate year
How did you hear this? Recording (vinyl or tape), Live (bar/pub)
Who was there? Any names you recall?

The WHY... is not necessary .... this is a fabulous piece....

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

An "X-spurt" on Yahoo Answer is posting the same question...."X being an unknown" and "Spurt being a Drip under pressure.

I remember clanging bells as well. Have been looking for it for years. The details I remember:

45 rpm vinyl. Had Christmas rap on the other side. Was a woman's group. Must have been 86 or 87 in the pacific northwest as well. Portland oregon specifically.

No, sorry. Can't find it on an internet search.
A parody of Silver Bells seemed a good idea though. Unfortunately it turned out a little saccharine (must be the season!)

Cheers
Nigel

SILVER BELLS
Nigel Parsons Dec 2011

In his corner, by the fireplace,
Fred is nursing his beer
Feeling glad
for the warmth
and the light.
At the counter, youths are laughing
Freely sharing good cheer
While poor Fred
makes two pints
last all night.

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

In the bar now, come some matrons,
It's the Watchtower brigade.
Singing car'ls
to the sound of
their tambourines.
Seek donations, from the patrons,
Sip a swift lemonade.
Then dispensing
God's blessings
and magazines.

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

And they tell all, of the homeless,
And the suff'ring about.
And Fred gives them
the last of
his change.
As they exit, Fred then rises,
And he follows them out
Leaving after
one pint seems
so strange!

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

Reply to Redcoon:

I used to have that tape! It was done by the Fallen Angels Choir-a vocal group based in Portland(ia?) that specialized in pointed, yet comic, political Christmas carols. In the late 1970's I heard them sing the Silver Bells parody on local tv-then I actually encountered them in the 1980's performing live at the Saturday Market.

Ken is correct.. It was the Fallen Angels Choir.. from Portland.. They sang at our Christmas Party in the early 80's. had a song book for many years.. Can't find it now..
Some of the other lines of this song.

Cramming sidewalks, jamming sidewalks. Dressed in holiday style. In the air theirs a feeling of Christmas. Store ads lying, people buying, Sellers doing their job, and on every street corner you hear.

Clanging Bells, Banging Bells, god it's the salvation army. Clattering Shattering, Who needs a headache right now.

All the street lights and the stop lights blink a bright red and red, as the muggers rush home with their treasures. ........

Clanging Bells, Banging Bells, god it's the salvation army. Clattering Shattering, Who needs a headache right now.

WHIPS AND CHAINS

Melody - Silver Bells

presstelegram

Walking sidewalks, city sidewalks
In her leather and heels,
In my pants there's a feeling of stiffness.

Her name's Bambi, and it may be,
That tonight I might catch,
A face full of Bambi's pink snatch.

Whips and chains (whips and chains),
Beat me lame (beat me lame),
My only pleasure is pain.
Crush my balls (crush my balls),
Make me crawl (make me crawl),
Bambi please make me your slave.

We have this one posted to the forum threads "Mad Maazine Parodies."

Sung to the tune "Silver Bells"

Drivers weaving, signs unheading
down the highway they race.
You can tell it's the season of Christmas.

Wildly weaving, sometimes heaving
with the cops giving chase,
and with each fatal crack-up you'll hear...

Count the toll
count the toll
It's Christmas time on the highway..

Sincerely,
Gargoyle
