Exactly 100 has been done, how about 25 or fewer?

NPR:'Hint Fiction' Celebrates The (Extremely) Short Story.

Inspired by the six-word novel attributed to Ernest Hemingway — "For sale: baby shoes, never worn" — Robert Swartwood has compiled a new anthology of bite-sized fiction.

See examples from the anthology on the NPR page.

Thanks, Becky! IN the middle of NaNoWriMo in which we challenge ourselves to write a novel of 50,000 words in the month of November, I welcome this wee "diversion." I love writing short stuff. Had so much fun with 100 word story thread. When I am working with someone, I often ask them to describe themselves in twenty-five words or less. It's a challenge, but it really gets them to thinking about how they define themselves which acts as a springboard for healthful communication.

Let's see:

Scuttlebut

Talk was, she was a crab and he had six fingers, never meant to be. The shell was a tight fit; love by the sea.

The piton tore loose. 2,000 feet below they found him spattered on the rocks.

14 words.

The town. Totally destroyed.

4 words.

She died screaming.

3 words.

Destination: Moon.

2 words (and it's a movie)

The four vital ingredients of all fiction, so they say, are sex, high-life, reversal of fortune, mystery.

Hence that monumental classic:

"Fuck," said the Duchess, "I'm pregnant. Who did it?"

"I want you to switch me off" said the recording.
