Subject: BS: Brother, here we go again..... From: Gurney Date: 05 Dec 10 - 03:20 PM Madame Gurney is writing Christmas cards, and has put on a Christmas CD to help the mood along. Julie Andrews, of the faultless voice and crystal diction. Brings back memories of a time when the season brought joy and anticipation. Obviously, it didn't work. When it ended she replaced it with Sarah Brightman singing Lloyd-Webber, and she/we have about another seven Christmassy CDs. Just for a little while there, it felt like Christmas. Mmmm. |

Subject: RE: BS: Brother, here we go again..... From: VirginiaTam Date: 05 Dec 10 - 03:42 PM Decided not to put up decorations this year. I can't bear Christmas specials, films or even commercials. I just wish it would be over with ASAP. |

Subject: RE: BS: Brother, here we go again..... From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Dec 10 - 05:02 PM I'm going to watch a bunch of old Arnold Schwarzenneger movies, clean and oil the pump shotgun, then go for a nice drive and blow away a few of those lawn Santa Claus displays with the plastic reindeer and glowing red noses.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Brother, here we go again..... From: Linda Kelly Date: 05 Dec 10 - 05:45 PM I too am avoiding Xmas although I do have a fine recording of Sarah Brightman singing La Wally which is sure to put me in the mood. Slam on some Pavorrotti singing Oh Holy night-that'll do the trick! |

Subject: RE: BS: Brother, here we go again..... From: Ron Davies Date: 05 Dec 10 - 07:59 PM I thought from the title this would be about Tom Lehrer's homage to the season-- a real evergreen. |

Subject: RE: BS: Brother, here we go again..... From: Gurney Date: 06 Dec 10 - 01:38 PM Ron, you caught the reference correctly, and TL's evergreen is exactly how I feel about the 'festivities,' and the modern take on 'Xmas.' If it had really been about the song, I would have started it above the line, though. |

This year Christmas falls on Saturday with Bank Holiday Sunday followed by Bank Holiday and Tuesday because of it falling on the weekend so that will mean no buses and Sunday Bank Holiday service time-tables for buses, oh joy! |
