I'm surprised to see that some folk clubs don't charge admission for either singers nights or guest nights. How do they pay the guest artists? Our club charges an admission fee on singers and guest nights and this is the money that pays the guests' fees. Any money left over goes towards paying the next guest.

Arnie: This is pure speculation, but could it be that they raise money in other ways? Eg voluntary donations, raffles etc, rather than a direct charge.
