Sad news today that BBC journalist Brian Hanrahan, best known for his coverage of the War zones, has died at the age of 61.

He was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago,his condition deteriorated within the last few days ago.

Brian was a journalist of unimpeachable integrity and outstanding judgment.

Yes sad news indeed. Brian was indeed a gentleman broadcaster of the old school, I had the pleasure to work with occasionally.

Sadly, he was due to attend the final flight of the Harrier last week but was too unwell to attend.

A voice that will be missed.
