my New Years eve will probably include a visit to the nearest (almost) vantage point to see the tops of Sydney's earliest fireworks display at 9pm, then back home to one of my new jigsaws & newest CDs

I played my pipes and we sang Auld Lang Syne and did the New Year bit an hour and a half ago. Aussie should be there in another 30 minutes.

well, here it is - New Year's Eve 2010 in Australia's east coast

I can hear the crowds in outside yelling, everyone comes to my suburb to celebrate as they have for decades.

Today's celebrations are a bit different from the past as we have lots of hotels & bars & clubs & people will be drinking on the streets - in the 1940s the streets were only crowded for 10 mins before & 10 mins after midnight as everyone went back to their to private parties & & here are some jolly revellers from 1948

Well, Happy New Year to those who have one to be happy about... Here on the Blue Ridge Mountain in Virginia it's still about 15 hours away from gettin' here but an unidentified source tells us that the New Year mule team is pullin' hard so I expect it to show up on time... But ya' never know... Could get lost, I reckon...

It's the main winter festival, and I'm on my own (well Dora's in bed, the Glenkinchie's keeping me company and I've got "Legends of the American Folk Blues Festivals" playing (currently Big Joe Williams) - I only watch pJools in fast forward.
