I have an evening to kill in the Preston area (probably south of) next Wednesday 26th January 2011

Are there any singarounds or sessions around the area that anyone can recommend?

I like a mix of music but probably not a totally unaccompanied very traditional evening. By preference I like things where people play together rather than more formal standing in front of people performing evenings - though I'm happy with that too.

Thanks for that - I find it's always nice to have recommendations of things people have been to though.

I went to a very enjoyable club in Bristol off the back of a recommendation from Mudcat and had two very enjoyable evenings and also down in the South West when I was on holiday.

http://www.garstangunplugged.com/where-when-tickets.html (click) appears to be the only one on your specific date. (Singer's Nights on the last Wednesday of the month, no charge, Kenlis Arms near Garstang, about ten miles north of Preston. Haven't been there myself yet, but the singarounds and concert events have been going for some time. There's a contact form, or a phone number on the linked page to confirm it's on.

You just missed a good session at the Punchbowl, Churchtown (another thread refers, third Wednesday of the month).

If you could hold out till Friday (every week) the Moorbrook, Garstang Road, Preston has a small but perfectly formed gathering of musicians and singers. The pub may look closed if you arrive before 8:30pm, but it's worth waiting for.

Ross (who will probably be watching Isambarde at the Willows Catholic Club in Kirkham on the 26th!)

I'm tempted by Coppull down towards Chorley - anyone been?

If not I'm sure the company will book a different premier inn and I'll go for Longridge.

Coppull is a very friendly singaround. We used to go there when we lived in England a year or so ago.
