Subject: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 28 Jan 11 - 04:21 PM On the CBC news just now... an annoucement has been announced and the rumour is that a deal has been made. All hotels have been booked for weeks but there is also a rumour that hotels have NOT booked all of their rooms and will contact people who called, and take new calls, and offer rooms for BIG $s. I am several kms from the "The Hill". I wonder if I should offer rooms or tenting? |

From: number 6 Date: 28 Jan 11 - 04:31 PM Moncton's population is going to double on that weekend ... there will be nothing but U2 music blaring out of every other car, out of every store, restaurant and honky tonk, .... Jeeezuz, If I were you gnu ,I'd get the hell out of town on that weekend. Forget the $money$ that can be made, it is not worth it. biLL |

Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: Ed T Date: 28 Jan 11 - 06:12 PM Why not have it in winter? |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 28 Jan 11 - 06:36 PM Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Wineter, Ed T? Ahhhh... it would take The Edge off? |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: Ed T Date: 28 Jan 11 - 07:19 PM It would freeze over the "mud hole parking lot" in the field nearest the stage, where I got stuck during the Alan Jackson-Brooks and Dunn concert, a few years ago:) |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 28 Jan 11 - 07:40 PM sIx... The Stones concert was nasty for many. Over 80k fans and the traffic here was gridlock. I am in a "Y" between the two main roads toward the hill so I made sure I didn't need to go anywhere after 10AM on that day. Of course, it's not even close to a snowstorm. Ed T. There were a lot of stories and complaints about that field. But it was private property and there were no guarantees about rain and mud. My fav story was on the road that runs across the upper edge of The Hill. Buddy had booze and snacks (a dozen BBQs) for sale on his front lawn and made $6000. The RCMP looked the other way. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: Ed T Date: 28 Jan 11 - 09:41 PM I suspect the local business guy who rents the tent sites makes the a lot of money. He charges folks an "entry fee" to visit their friends camping. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 29 Jan 11 - 01:27 PM It's on, according to the CBC. But, I musta had a brain fart on accounta no way I could do it. Mum lives next door and is 84 and she'd freak out. No matter if I could make a grand off it, she is wary and suspicious of any strangers and I just wouldn't put the old girl through any kinda stress. If I was a lad again, I would be there... the main bus pickup/dropoff location is less than a four minute walk from my house. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: Charmion Date: 30 Jan 11 - 01:20 PM Take your Mum to Halifax or Montreal for the weekend. Be sure to lock up good and tight before youse leave home. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: Ed T Date: 30 Jan 11 - 02:59 PM Just step outside for awhile with your Mum and breath in the fumes, it will level things out for the both of you:) |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 30 Jan 11 - 03:48 PM Mum don't travel anymore... just as far as the sidewalk and back. As for the Maryjane, she's paranoid enough without any fumes. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 27 Jul 11 - 02:01 PM Rumour has it they have been practicing The Ballad of Springhill... dollars to doughnuts they play it. I was out and looked at the preparations for Saturday. UNREAL! Took me aback. Kinda wish I could go. One of the things that shocked me also was the ticket prices... FAR less than The Rolling Stones charged. Check this out! |

Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 28 Jul 11 - 11:13 AM Hmmmm... I wonder if those are scalpers who couldn't sell their tickets? Must check that out. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 28 Jul 11 - 11:23 AM Yup... it's been sold out for a while. Tickets started at $65 which is about 2/3 of what The Stones tickets were. I can't recall how much the costliest ones were but I was taken aback in comparison to The Stones tickets. |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 30 Jul 11 - 12:05 PM Found the ticket prices... Reserved grandstand seats will be available at $29.50, $99.50, & $199.50, while general admission tickets are $65.00 each. Red Zone tickets will also be available at $275.00. All tickets include taxes but are subject to applicable service charges. I wonder how much it will cost to tow all the vehicles out of the mud in the camping sites? Been raining since before dawn. POURED from 8:30 to 10:15 and it's pouring down again. Supposed to sto between 7:00 and 8:00. Thank goodness the lads won't get wet! |
Subject: RE: BS: U2 in Moncton? From: gnu Date: 30 Jul 11 - 08:40 PM Well, for what it's worth, I can now say I heard U2 live at my house. I can hear them now. Can't make out the words but I can make out the tune... from 4km away. I am pissed that I have gotten so old in my mind that I didn't go. I can hear them while I type. How did I get this "old" and stupid? |
