Subject: BS: cheery spam = public service From: Desert Dancer Date: 07 Feb 11 - 12:26 PM I'm beginning to enjoy the cheery little spam messages -- often ending: PS, how do I change the little picture thingy like some people have, I like it but can't figure it out haha. Recently there have been some that are apparently produced with an algorithm that incorporates vocabulary from the site. The resulting posts can be either mystifying or look like serious inquiries from someone of excessive intellect combined with excessive chemicals or alcohol -- which makes them a little harder to differentiate from possible real Mudcatter posts and detect as spam. :-) Either way, they randomly bring old threads to the surface that otherwise might never been seen again. Sometimes this infuses the threads with new life, sometimes they're just worth a view and drop off into the Mudcat ether again. This morning I enjoyed "Chords: Redback on the Toilet Seat (Slim Newton)" and learned something I didn't know: that the black widow spider I know from Arizona has cousins the world round. They are surely a housekeeping headache for the joeclones, but I thought I'd take a look at the bright side this morning... ~ Becky in Long Beach |

Subject: RE: BS: cheery spam = public service From: GUEST, topsie Date: 07 Feb 11 - 03:51 PM I assume that when they ask how they can reset the clock it doesn't just show that they are not in Mudcat's time zone - what they really want to know is how to manipulate the site. |
