Subject: BS: New Malaga VIP lounge enormous From: Bonzo3legs Date: 13 Feb 11 - 02:32 PM 2 hours to pass before our flight from Malaga (Spain) so we found the VIP lounge which I would estimate to be at least the size of a rugby pitch - very quiet indeed, to be recommended. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Malaga VIP lounge enormous From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 13 Feb 11 - 05:44 PM Terminal 3 (Emirates) at Dubai is the largest building in the world, at 150 hectares (someone tell me in acres). Dunno about its VIP lounge(s?), but should be huge. Emirates now the biggest airline in terms of passenger miles flown. (Ebbie's comment may apply here as well- dunno, haven't seen either one.) |

Subject: RE: BS: New Malaga VIP lounge enormous From: Bonzo3legs Date: 14 Feb 11 - 07:14 AM Well at this time of year at least it's a very comfortable way of passing time after check in - I should think in July/August it would be heaving in there! |

Subject: RE: BS: New Malaga VIP lounge enormous From: gnu Date: 15 Feb 11 - 03:42 PM Q... "Alcohol while flying helps to quiet my fears, and mentally to keep the plane in the air." That's what I found. I used to be on a plane several times a week and the VIP lounge was certainly solace... especially the free drinks. Once, when I was a lad, I was invited (got a pass I was to use after midnight) into the VIP lounge at Halifax airport by the APManager as I was working for Transport Canada - Air Div and I had a cargo redeye at 4AM. The lounge would be empty and AIR CONDITIONED! Back in those days, the VIP lounge was just that... for VIPs and not just frequent fliers. I had my fill at the bar and got a slightly nasty phone call from the APM the next day. Apparently, signing the guest book amongst heads of state and royalty was not a good thing to do. I believe my name, title and comment were removed at some expense. I've got a picture somewhere. I recall Jimmy Carter's signature and comment were on the same page. I didn't think Jimbo would have cared eh? |

Subject: RE: BS: New Malaga VIP lounge enormous From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 16 Feb 11 - 04:52 AM Bonzo3legs, did you enjoy Malaga itself? I have very happy memories of it in the sixties. Southern Spain is/was very interesting, Moorish in atmosphere and architecture. I crossed over to Morocco on a smelly boat (all alone and very young, can you imagine doing that nowadays?)I suppose Torremolinos and Mijas are now touristy and possibly swarming with drunk young 'uns. Sorry to be so cynical, but as I grow old, nothing seems as nice as it used to be! |
