I got a bit of good news this morning. I sent a CD off to a small, local, independent radio station a few weeks ago. You always hope that you might get one or two plays on air. Instead, the station intends to broadcast virtually the whole record, "Live At Lennep" tonight, February 14, at (GMT) 18.00 - 19:00, Thursday, Feb 17 from 21:00 - 22:00 and Sunday, Feb 20, from 12:00 - 13:00. It is going to be streamed world wide for the internet. This was pretty unexpected, but all the more welcome for that. The radio station is here. Our noise is not for everyone, but for those, who are interested, it is about melodic songs, which tell stories or give character sketches.

Well done sir! It's always nice when someone you know - even 'remotely' on a forum like Mudcat - has a success. Why, I might even check the 'noise' out... :-)

Good News, eh?
A friend of mine here in NZ managed to get a CD of his group's Irish stuff into the hands of a radio DJ somewhere in America. Every now and again he receives a cheque.....

To Alan - excellent achievement, mate.

To everyone else, especially those who didn't catch the stream - I've known alanabit for around thirty years and we've been in more than one act together. I've probably been one of his sternest critics over the years but I'll happily embarrass him by saying that, in recent years, I've seen him mature into a very fine songwriter and performer. If you missed the stream, may I urge you to borrow, beg or buy a copy of the CD from alanabit. This stern critic thinks it's pretty damn good....

Faneffingtastic, Alan! Congratulations! Is the program archived? Or, do you have myspace or elsewhere we can listen to songs from it?

This is really wonderful news, well-deserved.

Hi Kat. Hope you are feeling better. The MySpace site is here. The Reverb Nation site is here. There is a German site here. There is plenty of noise up on all of them.
