Not being a member I casn't put this in the music section.

Yeh that's right Leveller. Pete was a Yorkshire lad originally. For years he used to live in Portsmouth. Then for a while he became sort of techical author - writing about computers. His first wife died and he moved to the south west - Bath or Bristol, I think and he took up the guitar playing agin.

I caught up with him at Priddy a couple of years ago.

a nice man. the overwhelming memory of Pete in our family is that, my mother in law asked him if he wanted sugar on his cornflakes, he said, You know, I've no idea - my wife does all that sort of thing for me.

Are you really a Leveller? greg brimson produced or engineered one of your albums, Derek was telling me one time.

Thanks Al. I've just been and found Pete on Facebook. He used to be a good mate before we went our separate ways. Strangely, like him, I ended up as a professional writer. Anyway, hopefully we'll get back in touch.

No, sorry, not one of THOSE Levellers (I wish!) - just a great admirer of John Lilburne and a student of the English Civil War period.

Thanks for the info.

Here in Alaska I manage an apartment building, built in 1911.

The "leveller" in this building is a light bulb in the guts of the old elevator that governs the correct stoppage at each floor.

True story. As we found out a few months ago when the bulb burnt out and Otis, the elevator company, went scrambling to find another. Found one in Florida.

GUEST,Alan Whittle "Not being a member I can't put this in the music section."

Alan, I don't understand your statement. Mudcat allows non-members to start music-related threads.

I didn't think I could. I can't remeMber how I got thaT IMPRESSION. Sorry if I am disseminating false information!

I left mudcat after a particularly nasty exchange. I admit to having being old and having daft views and probably a slim grasp on reality. Still its the view that comes up when I open my eyelids, and i'm stuck with it.

a pity. i miss pm -ing folks which would have been better for this message. Still its a comfort being semi-detached.

Thanks maeve

It was my impression that it is the BS section in which guests are not allowed to start threads. If so, the reason you were allowed to start this one, Al, was that your name was recognized as a member. :)

Guests have been allowed to start BS threads if the topic is "reasonable", insightful, interesting, funny... or if enough MCats respond before a mod nips it.
