Subject: Huddie and Alan on Radio 1944 From: Amos Date: 20 Aug 11 - 01:16 PM Here's a wonderful recording recently discovered recording of Alan Lomax and Leadbelly singing together in 1944. WNYC Recording--Lomax and LeadbetterIt is interesting to me that Lomax appears to call Huddie Leadbelly "Hewdy", which is not how I thought his name was pronounced. Subject: RE: alan lomax documentary here From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 20 Aug 11 - 05:26 PM Amos, many thanks for that link. I really enjoyed the show. I wish they could have found the other half of it too, but it was still great. Come to think of it I'd love to hear the other shows they mentioned also. Thanks again Amos. Burl |
Subject: RE: alan lomax documentary here From: Don Firth Date: 20 Aug 11 - 06:57 PM Thanks, Amos! That was a real treat! A friend of mine had some old records of Leadbelly on which he sang a great deal, and there was someone (dunno who) interviewing him. The interviewer pronounced his name "HEW-dy," same as the interviewer in the old broadcast. Don Firth |
