They had another cup And left poor Davy Crockett to do the washing up. We sang this around 1955/56, when all three of these songs made the top ten music charts. |

Wagon Train was no good,so they sent for Robin Hood. Robin Hood lost his bow,so they sent for Ivanhoe. Ivanhoe was too large,so they sent for I'm In Charge. We sang this in the early sixties and it relates to TV programmes of the time. 'I'm In Charge'is Bruce Forsyth. This is a clapping game from the seventies.. Chinese men are very funny, This is how they treat their mummy, Oo cha,oo cha,turn around and boot ya. |

I am trying to put together a post for this blog - http://westcountryfolklore.blogspot.com/ I have written down those my wife and I can remember and it turns out to be quite a lot! This seems to be a fun vein of Folklore to explore... As a sort of format I would love to include a place and an approximate date, for instance like this - Ip Dip Do Batmans got the flu Robins got the measles so out goes you if it lands on number ten it will be you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 From Southville primary school in Bristol late 1980's You could add some background stories if you like. Thank you! ps for Westcountry be self defining - I have found that to be the best option - if you come from Gloucester and feel you live in the Westcountry that is good enough for me! I will post a link to the finished post in a few days. |
