If you're looking for folk around Tiverton itself try the Tivvyfest [www.tivvyfest.com] running throughout May with several folk events, including a "Jan Stewer" Night on Friday 6th , singaround or music session (choice) on Sunday 8th and plenty of other concert-type events later in the month. There's a monthly club in Tiverton itself (1st Tuesday) as well as an excellent singaround/session not far away at Pennymoor (3rd Wednesday - and don't forget their Song & Ale weekend in June). There's also a newish Sunday afternoon music session at Thorverton, not far away.   Again [ www.2leftfeet.co.uk ] gives a good overview.

Great playing Sean! Loved your style. I think I go to the same clubs as 'GuestSteveT' above and would agree with him. Just wanted to make sure you don't go chasing off to our next session at the Twisted Oak at Ide on the 2nd Friday of May as unfortunately we cannot have our usual room there that night and at present have found no alternative but would love to see you round the clubs. (Twisted Oak resumes as normal in June) Good luck!

I'd echo the previous "Guest". There's plenty going on in Exeter itself and even more if you can travel 5 or 10 miles outside. I'd suggest the Devon Folk website at [www.2leftfeet.co.uk] for local Exeter and Devon clubs rather than "sanchobramble" which covers a bit further afield.

I've been to the Barnfield Music Club [www.barnfieldmusicclub.co.uk], Seven Stars and Topsham (as well as the weekly folk club at the Globe there is a fairly strong blues scene there) where you could certainly play a couple of tunes and ask around about singers. There are also clubs at Exmouth, Lympstone, Tiverton and Bradninch where I would think Bert Jansch / Dave Evans style material would go down well. You'd find Nic Jones fans at the club at Ide, and its sister club in Sidmouth, but these are really singers' clubs where the norm is to sing unaccompanied "traditional" songs and songs later than the 19th Century are considered modern pop songs.

Most of the clubs that I go to are either singarounds or fairly informal, "in the pub bar" clubs. I avoid open mic nights as they are too "pop" for me, (but then so is Bert Jansch – I'm a bit more "finger in the ear") but it may be that you'd be able meet up with a singer looking for a guitarist at some those venues if you're currently looking to find a performing partner more than looking for a night out just playing and listening and enjoying yourself. (Not that others can't enjoy themselves at open mic nights - just not me!!) Some of the open mic are listed in the diary section of Devon Folk as well.

There's certainly plenty of folk song and music in Exeter. It may not be paid "folk" gigs but, if it's playing and listening for its own sake that you want, you can't beat it. Good luck with your search!

There are quite a few folk venues around Exeter. According to the acoustic calendar, theres quite a lot going on in the surrounding areas - I imagine many of the people at these venues will live in or near Exeter.

RE Breezy, I'm not a singer, or at least haven't yet tried! Hoping I might find a singer in Exeter, although it seems tough. Pop and Rock music seem to be well catered for, but folk...

Great, great cover. Flawlwss mic placement and phenomenal tone. It would seem you're going to have a future professionally if you wish. Make a CD/DVD of your own compositions and sell them worldwide on the web. Start your own publishing company, register w/BMI and you'll get royalties from airplay or any other commercial use.

Even if your own comps are a little derivative at first that's ok. Everybody's got to start somewhere. Maybe a mix of Trad and Original as one can copyright arrangements of Trad material.

Your future is limitless, but you need to get yourself out there. IE, touring. Find an agent/manager who believes in you. Movie soundtracks, ad jingles...the whole thing. You're THAT GOOD!

I'm a 25-year-old fingerstyle guitarist keen to jam with a singer, write and adapt some music. Bit of traditional stuff, bit of contemporary! I put a few covers on Youtube, which should at least give you an idea of the style I like to play in (think Dave Evans, Bert Jansch, Nic Jones). Would be lovely to hear from some singing folkies around Exeter!
