Subject: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Fred McCormick Date: 12 Apr 11 - 10:53 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ107UqjIXk shows a raving nutter beneath a Klan mask prancing about to the accompaniment of what appears to be a Ku Klux Klan song. There is some speculation, among antifascists, and among disaffected former members of the British National Party, that the person in question is a leading BNP member. I have my doubts over that one. But does anybody recognise the song, or have any idea when this piece of junk was filmed? BTW., I've put this posting below the line because I don't think the song in any way qualifies as music. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: bobad Date: 12 Apr 11 - 11:23 AM The song is "Stand Up and be Counted" and it appears to be an old KKK anthem. Another version and lyrics HERE |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Ebbie Date: 12 Apr 11 - 11:29 AM Intersting that the song says to "show that you're a man"- and they're afraid even to show their faces. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Fred McCormick Date: 12 Apr 11 - 11:51 AM Bobad. Thanks for tracking that one down. I'm just off to the bathroom to be violently sick. Ebbie. I'm reminded of another song about the Klan, from the human race side of the fence this time, which has the couplet:- "He who travels with the Klan is a monster, not a man." Never was a truer word sung or spoken. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 12 Apr 11 - 01:07 PM I've reported it to Youtube..or rather, Google. I doubt they'll remove it though. They so need to clean up that site, have it monitored and modded etc..Some terrible things are posted on there, such hatred.. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Jack Campin Date: 12 Apr 11 - 02:26 PM Does his mother know he's doing those funky breakdance moves? It's hilarious. I wouldn't dream of reporting it. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: akenaton Date: 12 Apr 11 - 02:41 PM Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I think this is intended as a little bit of Pythonesque humour. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Rapparee Date: 12 Apr 11 - 02:44 PM Well, I just checked and yup, I'm a man. And I answered the census, standing up at the counter in the kitchen, so I've done stood up and been counted. If I "show the world that I'm a man" I'll be arrested for indecent exposure so I guess I'll take a pass on that one because I'm too pretty to go to jail. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Fred McCormick Date: 12 Apr 11 - 03:02 PM Akenaton. For reasons I don't want to go into, I can assure you that it's not a bit of Pythonesque humour. The creep under the hood really is a nazi, and if it weren't for the laws of libel I'd gladly tell you his name. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: akenaton Date: 12 Apr 11 - 03:25 PM Oh you must be joking Fred?......Why would anyone produce such a parody, other than in having a laugh. If I am wrong, then I feel very sorry for the chap. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Jim Dixon Date: 12 Apr 11 - 05:21 PM I could immediately tell the whole thing was a joke. And Brits claim that Americans can't recognize irony! Well, maybe whoever wrote and recorded that song didn't intend it as irony, but whoever put it into that video certainly did. He speeded up the tempo, raising the pitch, to make it sillier. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Apr 11 - 06:01 PM It's not so much Americans who don't understand irony, Jim. It's those with no sense of humour. Or maybe no sense? Anyway How about a listen to Chumbawamba to check out if it may be the same idiot as the one they refer to? Cheers D. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Don Firth Date: 12 Apr 11 - 07:16 PM I find this is a bit of a shock, but I'm afraid I have to agree with Akenaton (how often does THAT happen!??). Anything that incredibly stupid HAS to be a parody! Doesn't it??? Don Firth |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: akenaton Date: 13 Apr 11 - 03:17 AM Dont worry Don .....Its just a sign that you're on the road to recovery.. :0) |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Fred McCormick Date: 13 Apr 11 - 05:39 AM Don Firth. "Anything that incredibly stupid HAS to be a parody!" Like I said I know the identity of the goon under the mask. Stupid is hardly the word. But then he is a BNP member. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 Apr 11 - 06:36 AM If that really is a BNP member the BNP really are in trouble. Perhaps it was uninentional, but that is a pretty good bit of anti-BNP footage. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 Apr 11 - 07:01 AM For comparison, here's Tom Lehrer's version: I wanna go back to dixie, Take me back to dear ol' dixie, That's the only li'l ol' place for li'l ol' me. Ol' times there are not forgotten, Whuppin' slaves and sellin' cotton, And waitin' for the robert e. lee. (it was never there on time.) I'll go back to the swanee, Where pellagra makes you scrawny, And the honeysuckle clutters up the vine I really am a-fixin' To go home and start a-mixin' Down below that mason-dixon line. Oh, poll tax, how I love ya, how I love ya, My dear old poll tax. Won'tcha come with me to alabammy, Back to the arms of my dear ol' mammy, Her cookin's lousy and her hands are clammy, But what the hell, it's home. Yes, for paradise the southland is my nominee. Jes' give me a ham hock and a grit of hominy. I wanna go back to dixie I wanna be a dixie pixie And eat cornpone 'til it's comin' outta my ears I wanna talk with southern gentlemen And put my white sheet on again, I ain't seen one good lynchin' in years. The land of the boll weevil, Where the laws are medieval, Is callin' me to come and nevermore roam. I wanna go back to the southland, That 'y'all' and 'shet-ma-mouth' land, Be it ever so decadent, There's no place like home. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Fred McCormick Date: 13 Apr 11 - 08:12 AM McGrath of Harlow. Believe me the BNP are in trouble. The closer I get to these bastards the more I come to realise what a bunch of bone headed bizarros and bigots they are. Every last one of them. I was on an anti-fascist demo once when a group of BNP members from outside the region appeared. Friendly copper who is not at the least bit well disposed to far right nutters came over. (Yes, they do exist.) "I've just been talking to some of this lot", he said. "You mightn't believe it but one or two can actually string a sentence together." Take it from one who knows. The headcase under the ku klux klan mask is a paid up white supremacist. This is his idea of spreading the word about the aryan master race. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Musket Date: 13 Apr 11 - 09:00 AM Its all a pigment of their imagination. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 Apr 11 - 12:04 PM If that's his idea of spreading the word I'm inclined to think he should be encouraged... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: Fred McCormick Date: 13 Apr 11 - 12:53 PM Oh brother, are we going to encourage him. The soft bastard is standing in the May election and we're going to give him all the encouragement we can. In fact we're going to make sure his entire ward knows all about the creep who's lurking under that mask. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 13 Apr 11 - 01:34 PM I've watched it twice, and I just can't decide if it's a joke thing or serious. If it's a parody it's brilliant, but if this man is actually a racist BNP member/leader, it's disgusting and I agree with Lizzie, it should be removed immediately from the site. I'm still thinking...I'm tending towards seeing it as trying to be funny, but with a serious underlying BNP message. The movements are aggressive in a strange way, it's very disturbing. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: akenaton Date: 13 Apr 11 - 03:44 PM Sometimes we take ourselves much too seriously Fascists can come from right, left, but mainly from the centre. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 Apr 11 - 05:49 PM True enough. There can be an assumption that, if it can be shown that a political movements is not "extreme" in left-right terms, then it isn't really dangerous. The BNP is a case in point. It's evil and needs to be defeated not because it's particularly right-wing, but because it's racist and authoritarian. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: The Nationalist jig. Anybody recognise? From: akenaton Date: 13 Apr 11 - 06:31 PM Hmmm The BNP's madness is to overt to be dangerous "liberals" are a much more intricate problem |
