I'm sorry too Hazel. It was the 4 hour round trip on the train that made it awkward to get there :(

hello Hazel, Commiserations on the loss of the club. New ideas don't always take off, but it was well worth trying. Perhaps Tuesday wasn't quite the right day for it. How about trying again on a Sunday?
Best Wishes. Burl.

I'm sorry to hear this Nutty. You know the same thing happened to us when we tried it. It was good fun for those who were committed to turning up, but eventually, the support just wasn't there. Ah well....on to the next project!

Best wishes,

Peter

Sadly - the club is no longer functioning.

Just not enough people prepared to commit to a regular appearance and numbers dwindled to the point where the venture was no longer viable.

Another reminder for this new afternoon club.

The past two weeks have been excellent - very friendly and informal with some great singing.

Hope to see more new faces this week

As expected, numbers were down on last week but nevertheless a good time was had by all.

Many thanks to all those who came and contributed - I hope I'll see you again next week

Well - if I am ever in the area - I would love to arrive in Redcar in my Red Car

Don't hold your breath though - it is the best part of a day's journey from Gloucestershire.

Sorry Ann - I'm not sure which butcher you are referring to.
Cleveland Bay is about 10 mins walk from the town centre so you will have time for a look round.
Look forward to seeing you.

Is the butcher who got the recipe for Johnson's Polony and pork pies, from the Pork butcher who used to be on Church St. in Whitby, anywhere near the Cleveland Bay?
I'll have an hour or so to spare in Redcar before everything starts and the chance of getting a warm Johnson's pie is too good to miss :)

There used to be "Tea Dances" for pensioners - now we've got a "Tea Folk Club". We must be getting old!

I was all set to start in Feb but the pub was changing hands which delayed things.

It's something new - we'll just have to see how it goes but thanks for the good wishes.

What time does it wind up ? Might be nice (IF you're Local) to rop in for a quick sing on your way home after work - Like the sadly now defunct(loss of venue) Commuters Sing in London

Blatantly workerist Hazel.

It's alright for you lot able to retire when you're barely out of your teens, it looks like I'll be working until I'm about 80!

Oh, and good luck with the club!!!

Folk in the Afternoon! That does sound wonderfully naughty - like something you'd get up to in a sleazy hotel room when you should be at work.

Oooooh....wish I lived nearby :)

hi hazel

Sounds like a great idea. I live on the other side of the Country but do get over there occasionally. Will hope to get there soon.

Best of luck and I hope that it is a success.

Regards

MikeL2

Opening on Tuesday 3rd of May is a new weekly afternoon (UK) Folk Club

It will be based in The Cleveland Bay, Borough Road, Redcar TS10 2DD 1.30 - 4 30 pm

This is a totally new venture which I hope that all folkies, who are retired, unemployed or on the sick, will support. As Redcar is also a fine place for a day out we would welcome all out of towners' as well - in fact everyone will be welcome.

The Cleveland Bay, situated next to East Halt railway station, has good bus links and is easy walking distance from the town. There is also plenty of parking space.

Hazel Bolton
