Subject: BS: Old TV progs on DVD From: Arnie Date: 28 Apr 11 - 11:04 AM I've recently been given the first series of Boon on DVD. I used to love this serial in the mid-80's as I've always been into bikes and Ken Boon rides a BSA Norton called 'White Lightning'. I worked shifts in the 1980's and didn't own a video recorder (not many people did) so missed quite a few episodes. Now I've started re-watching them and despite the ham acting I've really got back into the serial. Just a shame that Michael Elphick met an early end a few years ago. I hadn't appreciated how dated everything now looks back then in the mid-80's and the cars and street scenes in Brum are great - Austin Maxis, Cortinas, Triumphs, Vivas etc. Big hair, big shoulders for the women and pints of bitter for 67p in Harry's hotel! Bring back those days!! Anyone else into Boon or other oldies released on DVD? |

As far as I know in this country at least, Norton was Norton, Triumph was Triumph, and Beezers were Beeezers. Short of the fact that Joe Lucas issued a plague on all their houses, the three brands had distinct personalities. Fill me in. Spaw |

Or sometimes a Vincent v-twin motor. First, you steal a Norton Featherbed..... There was an accepted name for the BSA/Norton hybrid, but I've forgotten it. NorVin for the second one. |
