Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: MGM·Lion Date: 04 May 11 - 05:07 PM In what way is any one of those details confidential or unascertainable thru normal channels? Puzzled as to the purpose of this scam ~Michael~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 04 May 11 - 05:09 PM Whatever could be in this consignment olddude? Personally delivered by 'a Diplomat'! Sounds very interesting. But as all they want is your name, address, Zip code and nationality, I'd have thought any telephone directory would have those details in it? |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: olddude Date: 04 May 11 - 05:28 PM Oh they start by gathering the simple info then search for the rest on the web ... by the way that is enough to pull up a credit report ... then they call and get the rest or whatever info they can get ... that is purpose to fish and see who response then they go from there. No virus attached GNU ... I can't get them ... |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 05 May 11 - 02:59 AM Is it me? But, as they have this interesting Consignment, I would assume that it would have an address label, stating you name, address, zip code, etc, already! |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 05 May 11 - 05:09 PM Does anyone ever respond to these scams nowadays? Surely the world and his wife know the things are sent by crooks. Yet still they arrive! |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: Joe Offer Date: 05 May 11 - 05:59 PM I dunno, Eliza. I think scam e-mails have become an art form. I suppose people don't respond to haikus and limericks very often, but they certainly are interesting art forms. Maybe we need to start a thread to encourage people to write entertaining e-mail scam messages... -Joe- |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 05 May 11 - 06:24 PM I agree, Joe, there are some very funny ones, especially those written in wonky English. And the convoluted tales to persuade you to give your bank details are hilarious. I think there's a website about the 419 scams (mainly Nigerian) which lists hundreds of them, and the very creative replies by naughty responders, just to string them along! |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: Gurney Date: 06 May 11 - 01:00 AM I think that they merely want to open a correspondence, and the nitty gritty comes later, when they are in your address book. I have had several emails purporting to come from a bank, three different banks in fact, including my own. They say something like warning me that they are removing large sums on my credit card, or asking me why my account is in arrears. If I was daft enough to 'reply' to them then there would be an entry in my address book seemingly from that bank, and who knows where that could lead. I reported all the contacts to the banks concerned, but only my own bank was interested enough to answer me. |

Subject: RE: BS: The best Scam email yet From: EBarnacle Date: 06 May 11 - 06:34 PM Refer them to me and I will be happy to show up at JFK airport to pick up the package in exchange for 10% of the contents. I'll show them my credentials if they'll show me theirs. EB |
