Hi all,

I'm looking for the text to a song entitled The Rose of Inchicore, or it could be The Pride of Inchicore. I've had a dig about and other threads and not undearthed anything anybody got any idea of the text and/or melody?

Can't say I remember hearing it. There's a reference to it HERE ascribing it to one Mick Fitzgerald. The same reference turns up elsewhere on a simple Google.

Some info on the author here. Might be a starting point. He's written some good ones, like "All our Trades are Gone" (covered by June Tabor) and "Rathdrum Fair".

Mind you, if I remember correctly, most of the Camac is underground - and the rest none too salubrious!

Hi Martin, the Camac flows past O'Farachain's back yard and in the summer when I was visiting his house to check on progress of the repair work being undertaken to remedy the damage caused by the flooding of his basement when the Camac overflowed it's banks, what did I see running along the bottom of the stream, but a pair of dippers busily turning stones and pebbles. It was a sight that I hadn't seen anywhere near Dublin for years. Most of the Camac runs in a culvert, but it is still a living breathing river as it runs through Inchicore. Ferg
