Subject: Tech? query re DigiTrad links From: Haruo Date: 30 May 11 - 02:39 PM Just out of curiosity, why does "Oh, my rolling river" appear in the list of DigiTrad song links at the top of this thread? I can't see how you could sing it to this tune, nor does the text seem related to either John Brown's Body or Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory... I tried to post this to the thread itself, but it didn't "take"... Haruo Haruo |

Subject: RE: Tech? query re DigiTrad links-O My Rolling River From: Joe Offer Date: 30 May 11 - 06:27 PM It is probably an indication that Joe Offer dyslexed when he typed in the song number. I could think of passing the blame on to Jim Dixon, who gave me the numbers I used for dozens of the thread groups. Maybe I could pass it on to Q or Jeri, who also helped. But hey, that wouldn't be fair - I'll take the blame. But now the question is, how to out-think my dyslexia - what dyslexic scrambling of the number 4367 does tie to the Battle Hymn of the Republic? And now I'm wondering about "O My Rolling River" - do we know anything about this song? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Tech? query re DigiTrad links-O My Rolling River From: Jeri Date: 30 May 11 - 06:37 PM Try 4257, and Shenandoah, which is where this one should be. Looks like somebody's left hand was typing one number farther right than desired. |
Subject: RE: Tech? query re DigiTrad links-O My Rolling River From: Jeri Date: 30 May 11 - 06:42 PM Which is weird, but has nothing to do with why the song got added to the wrong group. |
Subject: RE: Tech? query re DigiTrad links-O My Rolling River From: Joe Offer Date: 31 May 11 - 01:09 AM I had a dyslexic coworker, and it drove me crazy when he took phone messages for me and wrote down phone numbers. I usually found that his transposition was in the middle of the final, four-digit group. If he took down 634-4367 as the number and it didn't work, I often found that 634-4637 would be the correct number. But I tried 4637 and a number of other permutations here, and nothing tied to the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." 'Tis a puzzlement. -Joe- |
