Hi all,

Just a quick update on how the wedding went on Saturday:

Everything went perfectly - well, near enough - the weather was gloriously sunny, the rose garden near the creek was a perfect setting, everyone was smiling and happy, even the kids were happy playing at the reception - no fights or tears.

A couple told me that when the minister asked everyone to join together in blessing us a flock of birds suddenly appeared and wheeled around the crowd and flew off. I didn't notice it - too focused on the ceremony, and not muffing my lines, - but it's a very Celtic sign from nature.

My sister, her daughter, Bruce's niece (3 flutes), and my sister's husband (guitar) played a tune at the reception which my sister found in a book of Celtic duets. It is called Mrs Helen Robertson. Very apt! Now I know why they wouldn't tell me which tune they were playing.

I asked a friend of Bruce's, who sings and plays bluesy-R&B style guitar, to sing Big Bad Bill is Sweet William Now. Everyone loved it (Bruce's first name is William) and Bruce just looked long-suffering but he thought it was funny. (Thanks, tiger!)

It was just a really great day and evening. A perfect group of people having a great time together.

I had also asked the harper/ists on the e-mail harplist to play a tune for us at around the right time, and I asked an e-mail friend I have made via the harplist to do it too. He got up at 4.30 am to play a few tunes - how is that for real friendship? I'm sure the harp vibes and the 'Cat vibes from across the ocean made the day go better and it certainly made me feel even happier.

Thanks everyone.

Love Helen

By the way - what is Mudcat trying to tell me? When I wanted to post this thread it came up with this list of (supposedly) related threads. No. 13 Fountain filled with blood?? 14 Fatal glass of beer?? eee-yahhh!

I guess you creative literary types are going to write a story about a wedding with all of these themes incorporated into it. I dare you! *BG*

Hi all,

Just one photo to show you of the wedding. I've e-mailled bbc's Mudcat Resources a couple of photos, and I'll probably put a few more on my website if I can figure out how to line them up vertically instead of having them squashed together horizontally on the page. Ah, sweet mystery of html, I wish I could find you.

Helen, make a table with two columns, stick one photo in the left cell and one in the right.

Jeri,

I'll have to go back to html101 to look up how to make tables. I'm cheating with my page design by copying the source code of the whole page I made with Geocities Geobuilder (pretty useless program, very frustrating) and then just changing the photos or the text with very little understanding of what all the source code means. It's on my agenda for the next few months to work out how to do it properly, but for the present I'm just firefighting as necessary.

I hadn't even looked at the page when I posted my message. BEAUTIFUL!

I think I can help, if you want me to.

Tell me what the file names of the photos are. (I noticed the one on your web page is called "wed1b.jpg") Please let me know what order you want the photos arranged in. Here's my e-mail

I'll swipe your web page, add a table, and e-mail it back to you.

Doggone it, it's happened again. I posted to this thread yesterday, something to the effect that the snow looked good on the roof: Bruce's head--and in his beard, and hoped there was fire in the chimney--and I was sure I checked to see if it posted, but I guess I was just in too much of a hurry to go check the pictures in the Mudcat album... Anyway, Helen (and Bruce*), all my best.

(do I remember Catspaw saying some time ago something to the effect of "Why in the fockin' hell would anyone named William wanna call himself Bruce, fer kee-rist's sake" or did I just think it up by myself and think it sounded like Spaw? Oh, gawd, have I begun to think like Spaw?

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

seed, It's the old story - he had to be named William like his father, and his father before him but his Mum wanted to call him Bruce. The myth about all Oz blokes being called Bruce is a good one, but not true. The real blokes are called Trev & Kev.

Which reminds me, talking about Marion Zimmer Bradley (another current thread). In her book The Mists of Avalon the Merlin (Myrddin) was called Kevin - I never could get the image of a rev-heading car-crazy Oz bloke (think redneck) out of mind whenever I read that name. It's certainly not the name of a magical wizard in Australia.

I think you need to realise that this 'Spaw thing is really a cyber virus - it creeps into our brains and converts our own personality mind-files into 'Spaw-type files. It's too late for you now, the virus has gotten hold of yur brain - the only remedy, and it's a drastic one, is to re-format your brain and try to reload your original personality files, but there is only a 20% probability of success.

Ah, 'tis a bleak destiny ye see fer me, lass. Don't tell me that this reprogramming takes place at the Neil Young Center--they have a success rate of about -30% (not only do they not cure the inmates, the staff becomes terminally screwed, as well)--and now the malady is travelling via the internet. Is there no hope for humanity? Helen, you'd better get rid of your computer before you start having children or you'll have a bunch of Kevins and Trevors and Bruces running around blowing up koala bums.

Helen, do you share the recipe for those CAKES? If anything could be more beautiful than your pretty photo, it'd be those lovely cakes!

Dani,

A friend of ours made the cakes - she has won awards for her cake decorations and after seeing these I know why.

One cake was fruit cake (traditional/compulsory for weddings) but the other one was chocolate/nut fudge cake - unbelievable. I can probably get the recipe for that.

seed,

Thanks for the return favour (not!) - a bleak future for me in return. *grin*
