What is the record for under par for a PGA tournament? Surely if this isn't the record it must be close.

He duly finished on 16 under par which is certainly an all-time record for the Open. He got to 10-under faster than anyone has ever done anywhere (after 26 holes I think), and he's the only guy in history ever to touch 17 below, albeit only briefly.

He did a splendid, amazing job of controling not only the ball, but himself. He is to be congratulated, commended and generally admired.

It may be a very long time before some of those records are approached.

(gee- if he had become a musician instead of a golfer, that would have been a really exciting golf tournament, hmmm?)

What a brilliant effort from the man. Let's hope he will be able to maintain that level of performance.
