Well, I'm here already. I got lost in Baltimore at 1 AM, trying to find my hotel. The air conditioning doesn't cool and the window isn't made to open; and the place is sold out so there is no other room the night clerk could give me.
I'm spending three days on the Eastern Shore to get me in shape for the Getaway. See y'all Friday.

Do come prepared for somewhat cooler weather than we've had the last few years -- forecast at this point calls for highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 40s. Not COLD, mind you, but cooler than we've been accustomed to recently. No rain forecast, though!

So bring a jacket -- and then come to Martha's workshop and sing about it!

Well, I'm afraid I've gone from very doubtful to definitely not coming.

Very sad for me. I'm a relative newbie but this will be the first I have missed since my "debut" in 2002. (It was also my introduction to Mudcatters - signed up as soon as I got home - for those of you who don't like me - it is all Dani's fault!:)

I can't arrange for coverage to take any time off work, and like LEJ, can't burn the candle at both ends like I once could without paying too high a price.

And my son finally really wanted to come, after staying with Annie S. and her family and Bill D. and his family late this spring for a Washington DC based internship!

Speaking of music stands (ones that are under 5' 10" tall), does anyone have one of the sturdy kind (not the ones that collapse into a 2-foot case) that they could bring?   Please PM me if you can and if I could use it Saturday and Sunday evening.

Also, I'm getting the impression that we can probably use a couple extra sleeping bags during the Getaway, if anyone has some that they don't mind lending.    (Given what the airlines are charging for baggage these days, it helps not to have to bring bedding that's that big.)


And, Bruce, I will definitely buy some ginger again this year if you bring it!

To, I'm certain, everyone's disappointment, I have to cancel.

I awakened today with three fingers of my left hand numb and/or tingling...and I went to the doctor as quickly as I could. Not a stroke or a heart attack, but I somehow managed to kill some of the cells which surround the ulnar nerve in my left arm. These will take about three weeks to regenerate (better the cells than the nerve!) and during that time I'm one-handed. I'm not supposed to lift anything over about 20 pounds and it would be best if I kept my left arm dangling at my side (not possible!).

The doctor said that this is sometimes called "Saturday Night Palsy" and it comes from keeping your elbow on a table supporting your head for hours due to a drinking bout. I wish!

So, you will all have to do without me this year. It will be difficult, especially on the ladies, but do your best to bear up under the strain and realize that there's always next year.
