For us it is soft instrumentals - maybe some nice classical guitar or piano music. Words can be a bit of a distraction when you just want to be in the moment.

Susan

Thanks gnu. Actually, that was a slip of the keyboard on my part. It's actually solar powered. Which means it's nice and quiet. But I don't have a garage ;-(

well, the Faure Requiem, the most wonderfully sensuous music,I know it sounds bizarre, but "try it ,you'll like it" oh, and Happy Birthday CarolC..

I remember reading, when I was about fifteen, an interview with one of those "legendary lovers", (like George Simenon or Hugh Hefner, can't remember his name) and he claimed that the one piece of music guaranteed to drive a woman wild with desire was Artie Shaw's version of "Begin the Beguine".

I cannot vouch personally for the veracity of this claim. From personal experience, however, Tony McManus' first solo CD has never been known to fail................

Hmmmmm..... other than 'Bolero', I cant particularly think of anything...though Meatloaf stuff was something that worked at one time....*G*

Also, BBC Radio 4's 'signature tune' - 'Sailing By' was quite pleasant..if a bit brief....

Hmm . . . I find music distracting. It imposes its own rhythms, and builds to crescendos in its own time instead of in ours. I don't want big, loud music during a quiet moment, or a lethargic soundtrack to frenzied activity. Besides, the sounds of lovemaking are almost as important as the smells. I wouldn't want to drown anything out.

John

CC... solar powered ? Wow, unless you got skylights, that must really perk the neighbours' interest.

For the classical fans, you might try Tschaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet. My college roommate once pointed out that when you listen to it, you almost feel like a voyeur. Well, auditeur, I suppose....

But as for me, I find myself leaning towards Elvis and Simon & Garfunkel (as in, "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" and "I am a Rock"...sigh...)

Aloha,
Mark

DO NOT try it to "cock of the North"!!!.. or if you want .... try it to "Cock of the North" but try not to go with the rhythm of the tune..... lol

if we're into classical stuff....I like Barber's "Adagio for strings"...... great climax in that one......

Kat, you might appreciate this quote from Douglas Adams' "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish," in a scene where Arthur and Fenchurch are, uhm, on the brink of getting together, and Adams has just been commenting on the aphrodisiac qualities of Dire Straits:

"Mark Knopfler has an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff beer--which is not strictly relevant at this point since the record hadn't yet got to that bit, but there will be too much else going on when it does, and furthermore the chronicler does not intend to sit here with a track list and a stopwatch, so it seems best to mention it now while things are still moving slowly."

For me, it's Emmylou's "Wrecking Ball" or Loreena's "the mask and mirror" (although her "Book of Secrets" will do in a pinch, 'specially on "Mummer's Dance")....
