I came across this by chance. It tells of how an intelligent, dignified Black preacher overcame a ranting racist. Oddly enough, it is also funny. A complete victory.

Yes, I admire the black reverend gentleman for his courage and forbearance. But what strikes me about this clip is the sheer wickedness and evil of the Ku Klux Klan. In UK all racism is illegal and such activities would be instantly addressed by the Police. I find it horrifying that any group could behave in this manner. How could they do it? I'm disgusted and very sad. (My husband is black. I can't imagine how we'd cope with this rampant racism. Fortunately, everyone here in UK has been wonderful to him.)

The boorish, bullying behaviour of Clary beforehand certainly was the stuff of nightmares. But I found it funny to hear how he came unstuck against a really strong man. Clary now travels the world preaching a message of racial unity and he is clearly repulsed by the KKK - as any decent person would be. This was the best outcome there could possibly have been.

He's obviously a charismatic man - a very funny story teller. You can see how he rose to the top in the Klan and the integrationist world.

Yes, it is "sad" but it's also "funny" in that it uses humour (well...), in an odd way, to show that The Reverend is right and the Klan are wrong.

As for the good ol' boy, well, shame on his forefathers for teaching him hate and good on him for overcoming it and being honest about what he overcame.

I had never heard of "Enough Rope" but it's a great title for an interview show.
