Broadstairs festival had a feedback sheet and asked for comments.
( helpful ones preferred).

My own thoughts
- the PA in the marque was better this year - still not as good as I would expect
- the facilities for disabled could be improved
- it would be better value to join the caravan club and stay on their site and pay for the odd concert that you might wish to attend.

I only got down for one day this year, and what a great day it was! Neptune's Hall singaround followed by Bob's Woodshed Session at The Wrotham Arms. And dancing to Happy Trails in the evening. Cracking!

I was, however, slightly perturbed to see a duo (who I shan't name!) in one of the other pubs using backing bass and drum tracks! :(

Sadly, because of other commitments, the Bounty Hounds were only there for the weekend, but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We did get a nice little bit of feedback ourselves, via an email to our website on Thursday:

'I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your music at the Broadstairs Folk Festival, especially the gig you did at the Wrotham Arms on Saturday Night, it was fantastic.
Also your CD is so representative of your live performances, and all the songs are excellent, you must be very proud of the end result'

Not much of a festival goer (can't be arsed with camping or trying to find accommodation) but have connections in the area so have been been a few times.

No really big names but caught up with some acts that do the rounds of the folk circuit & should get more praise. From what I saw and feedback from others, the positives were for some of the old stagers - Jez Lowe, Vin Garbutt, Chumbawumba & Roy Bailey - who never let you down - and for some of the up & coming acts. Rave reviews for Dogan Mehmet, George Papavgeris, The Long Hill Ramblers & Po Girl.

The pub sessions were just the same old stuff & the ubiquitous morris men liven things up but get on your nerves after a while.

My big mistake: forking out £22 to see Barbara Dickson. What a let down from an old favourite of mine from years back. The voice is still there but overall a dreary set. The support act was better! - can't see them headlining Glastonbury or Cambridge any time soon but had some decent songs & a great fiddler.

I am told that Barbara Dickson got caught in a left stick - she wanted to go back to doing folk, but her market wanted a reprise of the greatest hits. A bugger that for an artist.

We went to the Po Girl concert and could not understand them. We were not sure if it was their poor diction or the PA sound quality. Nice voices and playing, but a shame we did not hear any of their stories. Anyone else heard what they sing about?
Chumbawumba for me were the highlight of the concerts. Stories worth listening to sung really well.
Strothman - we did a pub crawl on the Thursday instead of going to the BD concert - and did not stay in any of them long. The organisers have obviously an eye to the market - as most of the pubs were full of the non folkie punters seemingly enjoying the music. Monroes revenge and a jazz/ blues band from Manchester were worth catching.

I think that would be the Nick Holmes Band, who were very good
