Well the media (liberal and otherwise) trashed Princess Diana's account of her marriage told to Andrew Morton. Some journo's actually called Princess Dianne insane and deluded. All turned out to be true though.

999,
I was just passing along a joke told to me by a self-described "Nubian Princess" but thanks for relating that old saw, I was unfamiliar with it.
To me, news of a publicity-hound, corporate shill like Palin should only be carried in the NE and like publications.

Hmmmmm Last night I wrote that Palin has *three* children with her husband. Don't know where that came from. There are *five*.

With you 100% on that, Gillymor.

////sheeeeeeesh Just how do you come by this knowledge? She has three children with her husband, who is half Eskimo.////

Does he look Eskimo? No. There goes your theory.

////(Does that make Todd Palin 'Eskimo'? Obama is called Black.)////

Depends on what you look like--bottom line.

Only white? That is a far worse thing to say about her than saying she cheated. And, obviously unfounded... say, isn't that libel?

It is not a worse thing to say than she cheated. Good god, I have no problem with her feeling that way. She has a right to feel that way. She simply isn't the type.

But the bottom line is, the book is probably a trick and I urge people not to believe anything in it until an independent and impartial source can prove it.

After all, if it was written about you, that's what you would ask of people, isn't it?

josepp, you say that Todd Palin doesn't *look* Eskimo. Put him in traditional Inuit garb and you might possibly change your opinion.

As someone has said, you are titled to your own opinions and biases, but not to your own *facts.* So far as I can tell, your *facts* were born in your own head.

You can hear Tom Paxton's great song on YouTube.

"First she was for the bridge to nowhere then she wasn't"..................

Good God? You don't even know if she feels that way. Seriously jo, you need to evaluate your previous posts. That's simply advice and not meant to be nasty.

Todd PalinTodd Palin was born and raised in Dillingham, Alaska to James F. "Jim" and Blanche Palin (née Kallstrom).

His father, a native of Seattle, Washington, is a former general manager of Matanuska Electrical Association. His mother, a former secretary of the Alaska Federation of Natives, is one-quarter Yup'ik, and his maternal grandmother, Helena (Bartman) Andree, is a member of the Curyung tribe. His paternal grandfather, Frederick William Palin, was born in Hartney, Manitoba, Canada in February 1905.

In 1982, Palin graduated from Wasilla High School, which is the same alma mater of his wife and their eldest two children, son Track and daughter Bristol. He has taken some college courses but does not have a degree.

Palin was a union member and belonged to the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (United Steelworkers).

For eighteen years, he worked for BP in the North Slope oil fields of Alaska. In 2007, in order to avoid a conflict of interest that related to his wife's position as governor, he took a leave[12] from his job as production supervisor, when his employer became involved in natural gas pipeline negotiations with his wife's administration. Seven months later, because the family needed more income, Todd returned to BP. In order to avoid potential conflict of interest, this time, he accepted a non-management position as a production operator. He resigned from his job on September 18, 2009, with the stated reason as a desire to spend more time with his family.

He is also a commercial salmon fisherman at Bristol Bay on the Nushugak River.Info easily found by Googling.

I'd be considerably more interested in looking into the "potential conflict of interest" thing than I am in Todd Palin's lineage.

Hell, I'm half Scottish, half Swedish. Some people find that kinda weird (I'm always torn between the haggis and the lutefisk*).

*Lutefisk = the piece of Cod that passeth all understanding.

So Todd Palin is 1/8 Alaskan native then. That seems more reasonable. If he was half, why doesn't ANY part of that heritage show up? You'd see...something.

Actually, I do. But, as I said, I wasn't attacking for it--just stating a fact. Far be it from me to attack someone for preferring to marry people of their own racial or cultural background. I'd be attacking an awful lot of people in this world.

And no, Todd Palin in Inuit garb would only make me laugh.

Her party wrote more trillion dollar thankyou notes than anyone else. Starting wars in countries no one gives a shit about to say thankyou to the armaments industry.

Add to that a lousy record on human rights, and promisory notes to every right wing religious nut on the planet - you've got the reason she needs hitting with every rotten kipper you can throw at her.

Good luck with it, for the sake of your country.

Ake, get real. She reads the words. There is NO way she actually wrote them. She'd have contradicted herself in the first part of the speech. It's true that she makes Bush seem absolutely erudite, but sayin' a paramecium is brighter than an amoeba really ain't sayin' much.

I agree- I was wrong. Somehow and where I got the one-half figure.

In addition, I'm wrong about his heritage- he is part Yup'ik, not Inuit. Distinct geographical, racial, cultural and historical difference.

I dont think it matters to much who wins what Al, or even the result in 2012.....What is important, is that our respective electorate start to understand what has happened to us economically, why it had to happen, how there is no painless answer and especially why there is no answer at all without systemic change.

Unless we are prepared to write off a couple of generations of young people.

I can remember having conversations like this with marxists in 1979. They said it made no difference who won the election. Tory or Labour, they said, like a choice between a dose of the pox and a dose of the clap....

Good old Mrs Thatcher proved them wrong however, she proved there WERE definitely differences.

Its okay saying it makes no difference if you're in a position where it doesn't make all that much difference. But if you're at the bottom of the pile - believe you me, it matters who wins elections.

It also matters if you have a conscience or a brain. There are people here in the UK saying that after Blair/Brown and the current frauds they cannot take a political choice. All that does is give the hucksters a better chance.
