Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Nigel Parsons Date: 04 Oct 11 - 06:47 AM What's the significance of 29,000 days? It doesn't equate to a full number of years (79 yrs+) |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: bobad Date: 04 Oct 11 - 06:49 AM That's a lot of candles on your cake! |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: MGM·Lion Date: 04 Oct 11 - 06:50 AM Many thanks to you both ~~ but it is not a birthday, which will be next 12 May when I shall be 80 years old, which is what 'birthdays' conventionally measure ~~~ ~~~ but, as I called it in the subject, a "diurnaversary", the 29,000th DAY of my life. ~M~ |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Will Fly Date: 04 Oct 11 - 06:51 AM Blimey, Michael, you're also approximately 696,000 hours old, an even more approximately 41,760,000 minutes old... I think you're amazing for your age! :-) |
|
Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: MGM·Lion Date: 04 Oct 11 - 06:53 AM Nigel ~~ Who made the rule that it was only worth reckoning exact YEARS? I happen to think an exact count of DAYS to reach such a nice round sum an exercise worth doing. Sorry if you don't think it a # of any significance. I differ... ~M~ |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Nigel Parsons Date: 04 Oct 11 - 06:59 AM I just thought you might be referring to a reference on the 'net 29000 days on earth is the most we get on average... Time is not running out but your life is" Unfortunately I can't access the whole thing from a works computer. Cheers Nigel |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: MGM·Lion Date: 04 Oct 11 - 07:53 AM Take care yourself also, Spaw. And, while about it, as you stand there, a good time to spend a second or two mentally mastering the distinction between "your" & you're". ~M~ |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Oct 11 - 07:53 AM It is too early..........I can't believe I typed "you're".............................. Your Loyal Asshole, Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Oct 11 - 07:57 AM Note by the time I had already caught the blunder. Why that bothers me is because "your" and "there" are my pet peeves............***sigh***.................. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: MGM·Lion Date: 04 Oct 11 - 08:59 AM Crumbs! ~~ my 29k℔ diurnaversary, and I have actually made Catspaw ***sigh***. Truly a day to go down in history... |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 04 Oct 11 - 09:06 AM Perhaps it would be a little over optimistic to wish you many happy returns of the day. Good luck for the 30 000 though. |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: MGM·Lion Date: 04 Oct 11 - 09:08 AM Many thanks, Keith. That will be on 30 June 2014... ~M~ |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Bill D Date: 04 Oct 11 - 02:00 PM Only 26,435 myself....no round numbers coming up. (Incidently, this time/clock application has a module in it that makes this calculation easy.) |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: gnu Date: 04 Oct 11 - 04:31 PM Happy 29th!!! And ya know what they (used to) say... don't trust anyone over 30. |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Jim Dixon Date: 04 Oct 11 - 05:15 PM Speaking of odd dates-- My wife and I had a party on our mutual 100th birthday—that is, the day that our ages added together was exactly 100 years. In case you're interested in doing math involving dates, it's really easy if you use Excel or some other spreadsheet. Dates are stored internally as a number representing the number of days since some arbitrary calendar start date—probably January 1 of the year 1. If you subtract one date from another, it gives you the number of days between them. Just be sure your result field is formatted appropriately as either a date or a number field, depending on what you're trying to calculate. |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: gnu Date: 04 Oct 11 - 05:27 PM Or google "how old am I in days". |

Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Bert Date: 04 Oct 11 - 08:04 PM Act your age. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: Nigel Parsons Date: 05 Oct 11 - 04:41 AM Having discussed the difference between your & you're, could you explain the sentence: Crumbs! ~~ my 29k℔ diurnaversary, and I have actually made Catspaw ***sigh***. Was that "I've made Catspaw" "***Sigh***" or "I've made Catspaw sigh." Cheers Nigel |
|
Subject: RE: BS: diurnaversary From: MGM·Lion Date: 05 Oct 11 - 04:59 AM I was simply quoting Catspaw: if you look at the preceding post from him, you will see he wrote ~ "Why that bothers me is because "your" and "there" are my pet peeves...***sigh***..." ~~ so you observe the *'s were verbatim Spaw's own. No objection to putting quotes round them in addition, if you like ~~ but strikes me as optional in the context. Hope your query satsfactorily dealt with, Nigel. Best ~M~ |
