I seem to be getting major problems with my mail through Orange Website.
My page is coming up OK but if I click on anything it appears to go through numerous websites before fixing on one and then jamming up with one bar to go on the download.
Is it only my computer or is any one else experiencing difficulties ?

Flipping through a bunch of websites unexpectedly is sometimes an indication of a malware infection, coupled with an AV that's blocking the phony sites it tries to connect to. I'm not familiar with Orange, so that might be a normal behavior, in which case it's probably nothing to worry about.

If no one confirms that the service is having problems, a recommended procedure is to boot to safe mode and run your AV scan in safe mode without loading any startup trash. Unless you've got a lot of files, a scan doesn't usually take too long, and would give some assurance that you're clean, so that you can get on with looking for other causes.

If you get a clean reading from a scan, you can try to connect to the site you get your AV from (or almost any AV provider), since many of the currently prevalent infections attempt to block connection to AV providers. The site should have a remote scan you can run that looks at stuff that's not common enough to be in the signatures on your machine, even if you're fully current.

Interuptions and/or degraded service from a number of providers have been reported recently. They, of course, say it's due to "maintenance," but they get hit with malware too (and don't like admitting it). If it's at their end there's not a lot you can do until they get things fixed.

Hopefully an Orange user will pop in to offer some suggestions. The numerous services have enough peculiarities that it's better to get comments from people using the one you've got.

John

Orange must not be a popular service. Nobody wants to talk about it.

The free email looks like a fairly good deal, with 500 MB of storage.

Norton gives it a clean slate for any malware/phishing or other annoyances - at least this morning.

Any luck with getting a better connection?

John

Thanks for your comments and suggestions John, but I still have the same problem.I think a contact with Orange is the only solution. They charge by the minute so it is in their interest to have people holding on for hours.
I will let you know if I get any success.

Now I'm curious.

If I refresh the threads list with "Orange" as a search term, I find this thread. If I refresh with a blank search term it's not there.

Three refreshes each way, with no change.

It should show at 10:42 today, it's now 17:53 so the last post isn't a day old yet.

Maybe another post will put it back in the list?

John
