From: voyager Date: 15 Oct 11 - 08:17 PM On a clear autumn day, hiking the hills outside of Denver, NC and I had a revelation on solving the current US Economic Crisis. Our recommendation to the Super-Committee on Deficit Reduction is a simple Washington answer to most social, political and economic chaos - 'We need a new agency' - The Department for Reduction of the Excessive American Debt (DREAD). I thought I'd try this 'trial balloon' on the 'hip Mudcat audience' to see how it plays. The general theme is that all civilian agencies (minus DHS, DOJ, CIA) are lumped into 1 Government bureaucracy where the stakeholders (Congressional and otherwise) can fight 'tooth and nail' for the small portion of the federal budget (%15-25%) available. Sample programs to include - Federal Unemployment Loans - a DREAD-Ful idea Guaranteed Agency Budgeting - DREAD-nought Cap on Federal Spending - DREAD-locks ......you get the idea.... We would want to nominate Bob Marley as ex-officio 'Minister of Culture' in support of the RASTA Program - Relief and Sustenance To All Americans - RASTA. RASTA would provide for the Hungry, Unemployed and Needy (HUN-DREADs, DREAD-Heads) of recipients protesting across the country today, hungry for DREAD-Ful jobs. The income/revenue model for this super agency would be based on political ideas (old and new). The proposed 'Millionaire's Tax' could be coupled with the fictional Know-Nothing party. The chief lobbyist - Mil-DREAD Fill-More presiding. All in favor......AYE1 All opposed (GOP inclusive) - 'Don't DREAD on me' - NEIGH It's a sunny day in Colorado voyager |
