As good as? Come on, now.

But, the spirit is alive. Donal Clancy (Liam's son) tours with Aiofe Clancy (Bobby's daughter) and Robbie O'Connell (cousin to the lot of 'em) as "The Clancy Legacy"

Finbarr Clancy (Bobby's son) plays with the High Kings, which includes Martin Furey. I believe he is the founder

Actually, I wouldn't mind hearing a few more rseponses to this post.

I mean, "as good as" is a bit of a blind alley.

But I can think of interesting younger singers who are doing individual, quality stuff with Scottish trad song (eg Alasdair Roberts, Ewan McLennan)...

And I can think of interesting younger singers who are doing individual, quality stuff with English trad song (Cath & Phil Tyler, Mary Hampton, Michael Rossiter, James Raynard [admittedly he seems to have gone quiet after his 1 album], Unthanks, Trembling Bells and others])

Are there equivalents in Ireland? I've heard one or two very impressive instrumentalists of late (I recommended a fiddler on here very recently). But what about songs? Anything a bit quirky/different in Irish folk?

I saw the Clancy Legacy at last years Frank Harte festival in Dublin. Lovely mix of songs and tunes and fine people too.
