With the creation of the Mudcat still fresh in our minds, a little paraphrasing of Chekov:

We should show life neither as it is nor as it ought to be, but as we see it in our dreams.

Thanks for the Mudcat and our dreams made manifest.

Kat, provocative Saturday quote for a start on year 4 N.M.E. (N.M.E. New Mudcat Era)! Especially since virtually all Chekov's people are dreamers who are slowly failing to wrestle free from mediocrity because they are such dreamers. I believe we should show life as it is, and as it ought to be. Contemporary life is designed to turn everyone into fuzzy vague dreamers who will not stir themselves to change the world.
yours, Peter T.

Ah, Peter, I thought about that when I posted it, but was hoping people would take it for the intent and not the origin. While you may be right about dreamers not moving off dead center, I shudder to think where the world would be without those dreamers who did act upon their dreams, including Max!

Here's a rebuttal of sorts:

Even in dreams good works are not wasted.

- Pedro Calderon de la Barca -

And, perhaps you'd like this one better, which I know you know,

If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master...

- Rudyard Kipling -
