Here's one solution, by a reader of the Daily Telegraph online

For the solution to the fat dilemma look no further than your local (now probably closed) pub. If you approach the bar visibly drunk the bartender is obliged to deny you service based on your state. If this could be replicated in every supermarket, burger, pizza and kebab shop across the country then no more obesity issue...picture it..."sorry madam, you've clearly had enough".

That sounds bad to me.

The BBC article suggests Scots are even fatter.

(Next time I go to MacDonald's I'll keep score on people coming in the door- Alberta, Canada. Myself excluded that way)
