Subject: BS: Faux News is No News From: Greg F. Date: 29 Nov 11 - 10:07 AM Fox News Viewers Know Less Than People Who Don't Watch Any News: Study Fox News viewers are less informed than people who don't watch any news at all, according to a new poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University. This isn't the first study that has found that Fox News viewers more misinformed in comparison to others. Last year, a study from the University of Maryland found that Fox News viewers were more likely to believe false information about politics. Click Here |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: YorkshireYankee Date: 29 Nov 11 - 10:20 AM And then there is "Part Deux: Many think US is bailing out Greece; NPR, Jon Stewart Out-Fox Cable News" "Most New Jersey residents don't have a basic understanding of the Euro debt crisis that is rocking the world's finances and has already toppled two European administrations, according to the latest results of Fairleigh Dickinson University's PublicMind Poll. "Asked which country has had to spend the most money bailing out the most financially troubled members of the European Union, just 30% correctly identify Germany, while 36% admit not knowing, 22% say it's the US, and the remaining 12% name some other country altogether." (That's the first two paragraphs.) |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Nov 11 - 10:35 AM Maybe they know more about NASCAR racing... |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Pete Jennings Date: 29 Nov 11 - 11:23 AM Richard, if you mean the New Jersey residents in particular(?), I'm not so sure they would know anything at all about NASCAR racing...whilst there is at least one race in the north (Watkins Glen in upstate NY), I believe it's more of a Southern thang (with Tony Stewart winning the Sprint Cup series). No doubt someone will give us a more definitive answer in due course! Do we get Fox News in the UK? |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 29 Nov 11 - 12:57 PM No Pete, unless through the Internet. But that's no problem, we have our own lying bastards as well as Rupert's Hackers (NI - "News International, or as they have shown "No Integrity"). Don T. |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 29 Nov 11 - 01:10 PM We can get PBS now - channel 243 on Virgin. They had a decent documentary about the Carter Family the other day, and the news was fair enough. |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: GUEST,Eb Date: 29 Nov 11 - 01:17 PM I don't watch Fox much but I do tune into it from time to time in order to see what they are saying. I usually have to switch away in a few moments- can't stand the often outrageous claims that they seem to be able to make with a straight face. I do think I have begun to identify the allure the entity poses to so many people: Most of the talking heads are 'folksy' and down home. Perhaps their viewers/fans perceive the more news-oriented channels as being condescending, patronizing and elitist. |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Richard Bridge Date: 29 Nov 11 - 02:33 PM I'd rather watch Al Jazeera or Moscow Today. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Greg F. Date: 29 Nov 11 - 02:46 PM Or the Disney Channel- which is more relevant to current events & is considerably more fact-oriented than Fox. |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Pete Jennings Date: 30 Nov 11 - 06:47 AM Sad state of affairs isn't it, when something as simple as reporting what has happened, or is happening, has become a viewing game of "spot the edtorial bias". And the phone hacking scandal (by Don's No Integrity lot), is more than just unlawful, it's sick. |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Bobert Date: 30 Nov 11 - 08:28 AM Yeah, I find it very interesting that at discussion boards like the WaPo that the chorus of Frank/Dodd haters cannot and will not in their own words explain just how these guys brought about the housing crisis... They will link paid right wing bloggers as if that makes their hatred valid but are ***clueless*** about what it is that Frank/Dodd did... I mean, I've asked dozens of them to explain in "their own words' their complaints and to date not one has so much as attempted it... That is called "woeful ignorance"... But the saddest part about "woeful ignorance" is that these people don't care if they are ignorant... They just call me a "sacialist" and go back to their lying... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: Richard Bridge Date: 30 Nov 11 - 11:02 AM Are they ignorant because they watch Faux, or do they watch Faux because they are ignorant? |

Subject: RE: BS: Faux News is No News From: GUEST, Eb Date: 30 Nov 11 - 12:16 PM Years ago during a group's heated discussion one young man clapped his hands over his ears and shook his head violently. No! he said. No! I don't want to hear it! That's what I've always believed and I don't want to hear anything else! That is called 'willful ignorance.' |
