Subject: BS: Use of 'crotch flys' in PJs & briefs
From: Ed T
Date: 23 Dec 11 - 11:51 AM

""There are several different fly designs in common use, including but not limited to the standard vertical fly, the horizontal fly, and the y-front fly. The use of a fly is optional, and many styles do not utilize a fly at all."" from Wiki, on mens briefs.

I have been noticing the move to no fly's in mens briefs. It beats me as to the reason? Without an opening, there is often s struggle to flip it over, or flip it under. It seems that the undie-industry figured out the perfect openings for everyone, a big advance from buttoned long-john openings of tyears ago. So, why the no fly?
No fly is just annoying to me, and in addition, I feel it goes against common undie sense.

Ah ha! This is the perfect place to get the definitive answer: In the youths' lovely current fad of drooping jeans, does one haul up and open the fly or push the jeans down two inches and let fly?

No fly? How utterly absurd.

True - about as absurd as putting a button (or two) in the middle of the damn thing...sometimes ya gotta go when ya gotta go!

drop-front pants -- the sailor's [and amishman's] friend. i don't suggest thirteen buttons; trust me, two is plenty.

Maybe it is partly because women purchase them for themselves because they might be more comfortable than what is promoted for women? I've been thinking about trying some boxers. It's a lot easier to find men's wear made of 100% cotton than it is for women's wear.

Otherwise, I'd say, just drop trou and sit down like the rest of us and you won't need to worry about a fly or buttons!

"Flip and fly"?

How about "Flip, flop, fly, don't care if I'm dry"?

Perhaps no-fly briefs are meant to be worn under no-fly outerwear like sweatpants. If you have to pull your pants down to pee, what difference does it make if you have to pull your underwear down too?

I finally had to buy Munsingwear briefs off the WWW last week. They are the only ones who seem to make the horizontal fly without assuming most men are now overweight and need a larger leg opening. Used to get 'em at Sears.

Briefs without flys are usually just for 'effect' I had a pair of black ones 45 years ago when I did 2 sessions as a model in a life-drawing class. I suppose the skimpier no-fly type would be used just as my Munsingwear are now....hook thumb and pull down.... but I am past the need for 'effect'.

Once you get the basics of fly figured out, there is the question of cotton, hemp or bamboo?

It's starting to make me dizzy

I completely mis-understood the heading and feared that "crotch flys" referred hybrid crab lice growing wings. :-}

Sewveral years ago, I was in Freeport, Maine. Among the things I needed was some undershorts. The only ones in my size were flyless. With much trepidation, I bought several pair. Those shorts gave and give more support and are verry comfort. Unfortunately, that model has been discontinued.

Well in Freeport Maine you should have shopped at LL Bean. There you could have found a set of "trap door" longjohns. Itchy and probably covered with crotch flys but warm!

Wonder why Tesco's don't put any flies in their pyjamas. Keep forgetting; buying new ones there; remembering when get them home; taking them back for refund; going to Marks & Sparks for usable replacement...

But what's that all about, eh Mr Leahy & Lady Porter & Lord McLaurin & all of you?

Just wear nappies (diapers), then it's irrelevant what the Care-Home got from the Charity shop in your size!

While mens pants are based on actual waist and leg length. However, womens are not.

It seems that womens sizes have changed throughout the years, to flatter them.Or, at least according to this statement>

""Additionally, what may have been a size 6 in the past is now more likely marked as a size 4 or a size 2. As women's body types have changed, manufacturers have adjusted their sizes to flatter a woman's self esteem — basing their sizing on the belief that most women would prefer to wear a piece of clothing marked with a "Small" label than with a "Large.""
