So did I Raptor. He was some guitarist and I thought they recorded their best blues at that time.

Some good stuff there Raptor. I have always liked the tongue in cheek irony of "Live With Me", in which they poke fun at their bad ass image. "Waiting On A Friend", with its gorgeous melody and that lovely ninth chord in the intro is probably also one of their most mature lyrics as well.

The Stones never released Hi Heeled Sneekers on an official album (correct me if I'm wrong) but for me the Saturday Club version says what British R & B was all about in 1964. It contains an excellent harmonica solo - not swathed in echo. Like many people at that time, I sat with finger poised on the pause button of my reel to reel tape recorder and inevitably missed the first couple of seconds. The BBC should issue a CD of those wonderful sessions, most of which have only ever been heard in medium wave quality!

arrrrggghhhh... Are there NO sites where that is a major topic?..(hey, I've resisted for several years complaining about R&R & pop/singer-songwriter intruding on folk/blues...)

*sigh*... I know the cause is hopeless, but now & then I can't contain a squawk

You may now return to your game

No apologies needed. It's a lovely song and it sounded good when they revived it a few years back.

Under My Thumb
(note: the chauvinist sentiment expressed in the last song is terrible....but that song WORKS marvelously! It sounds great. And that's why I'm including it. It doesn't throw me when Jagger plays the "bad boy" role, because it's theatre.)
